AZ Run this weekend: Bull Dog Canyon - Sunday, 2/12

Hi All - We are leading a run this weekend to Bulldog Canyon with the AZLCA club. We pre-ran this trail last weekend and here's our plan:

We’ll enter at the Blue Point gate and head down FS10 to FS1356 exiting at the Cottonwood gate. We should have time for a short excursion along FS3512 to Cottonwood Springs. After exiting the trail we’ll do lunch at Tortilla Flats (about 10mi) up the road for those interested. We may continue along the Apache Trail to Roosevelt Lake and possibly visit Tonto National Monument – depending on time.

This is part of the Tonto National Forest and a permit is required. Good news is the permit is free and you can now get it online:

This is a pleasure cruise – we pre-ran the FS10/FS1356 trails this past weekend and found them to be easily 2WD passable. Don’t know about FS3512 – but we don’t anticipate any issues there either.

Currently we've got 3 4Runners and 2 Land Cruisers in our group.

Breakfast: 8:15AM
Meet Time: 9:00AM
Pull Out: 9:15AM
Meet Location: Bagel Nosh, 1112 N Higley Rd, Mesa, AZ 85205
Rating: 2
Run Time: 2 ½ hrs Bulldog Canyon / 6 hrs with lunch & Apache Trail

Of course the weekend I'm dropping my rig off to get bumper made/ put on.

I'm only like 15 mins from trailhead! You guys ever go out on Saturday? Better day for me.

It's the right time of year to be heading out and doing runs so I'll try to post more of them up here. We actually ran this same trail last weekend (on saturday) to pre-run it since we've never been in the area, but we don't generally post our pre-run stuff since we don't know what to expect.

Cool yeah I'd like to go on a run sometime. Bet you guys had fun, there's some good trails in that area.

I found a local guy just from searching the internet that does/ has done a TON of offroad fab work as well as lots of other types of welding. He's very good by the looks of his work and the jeep guys had lots of good things to say about him. His name is Doc and is the owner of Stone Soup Metal Works in Phoenix. He seems like a really nice guy from the couple times we've talked.

My runner is there now and probably will be done Wednesday... can't wait!! Gonna be very similar to the Shrockworks bumper with a few tweeks. I'll post some pictures this week for sure. :bluejump:
