Back in a 4Runner...let mods begin

I decided to trade on 2012 Rubicon Unlimited in on a 2013 SR5. The Rubicon was an awesome vehicle, but a little to purpose built for my current needs. I decided to go with a 2013 SR5 with premium package and 3rd row. First mods....today I added front OME 884 coils and rear 895E coils. I maintained the factory shocks and struts. I am super happy with the results. The brake dive and corner roll is mostly gone, and the ride is still very comfortable. With the combination of coils, my fron to rear rake is now only 1/2".

Great choice of 4Runner if i do say so myself! Welcome to the club.

The lift is subtle but very nice! Any idea how much higher than stock height the front and rear actually are?

I achieved a full 3" in the front and about 2.5" in the rear. I'm sure it will settle some in the coming weeks, but should be good for a full 2.5" lift after settling. Next mod will be a rear cargo system with sliding drawers for use when one or both 3rd row seats are folded. Tires may be in the near future too.

i want to get this exact setup. did you get the diff drop and the 3" spacer to go along with it? and why did you go with the 895E versus the 895 or Toytec Superflex coil.

I did not do the diff drop and did not notice any vibration in 4WD. I added the 10mm spacer to the drivers side. My left to right height difference is less than 1/4" front and rear. I went with the 895E based on suggestions from Wheeler's Offroad and ARB. The 895E is 15mm shorter than the 895, but the spring wire diameter is .5mm larger. I had run the 895E's on a 2011 SR5 with 883 fronts and felt that my going with the 884 fronts this time, I could achieve a near level ride.

That is exactly what I'm looking for. Talked to Amber at toytec this afternoon who recommended this very setup (I said I wanted to level the runner, firm up the suspension, and lift is a bonus). Local shop wants $300 in labor though, plus the alignment. This sound reasonable to you guys or high? And where is the best place to buy this kit (ignoring the obvious toytec directly)? Thanks. And your "after" pic sold me, love that look with stock tire size.

I purchased my coils through Wheeler's Offroad....great bunch of guys with quick shipping and a lot of Toyota and OME knowedge. I paid $365 for the installation, alignment, tax, etc.

The caster is slightly out of spec, but I think once the front settles, I should be able to dial it into spec. The range for caster is 4.0 - 2.5 degrees. Mine is 2.4 on the drivers side and 2.0 on the passenger side. It drives like stock and steering wheel is perfectly centered.

If you calls Wheeler's, they can make sure they get you the springs you want. The 895E are FJ springs, but have the same spring rate as a 4Runner, just shorter overall height.

This may be a stupid question, but you say you achieved 3" up front and 2" rear... Toytec lists the below info on their site for the 884 & 895E. Am i missing something, or is Toytec wrong? Sorry I'm new to trucks and lifts. Spent my all my time at cars until purchasing the 4Runner.

---884--- 2" lift standard coils - add top plate spacers for full 3" lift

(895E 1 1/2" lift) Rear Coils for 07-10 FJ Cruiser and 03-09 4-Runner.

x2. i was just getting ready to order my kit and the specs that they had on the site threw me off. Can you verify your lift after the coils settle Instructor?

Factory shocks and struts

Wondering if you are having any ill effects keeping the factory shocks and struts?

No ill effects at all. When I spoke to ARB, they said I shouldn't see any issues, but if I wanted a little for travel, I could upgrade to OME shocks and struts. The factory combination does offer a softer side than the OME.

When I spoke to ARB and Wheeler's, they both said the 884's will net a full 3" and 895E should yield a full 2". ARB has a very informative tech book on their website that provides all of the spring specifications. All of the front coils have the same spring rate, just different heights.

884 = 390mm
885 = 395mm
887 = 400mm

Factory rate is 500lbs....ARB is 590lbs

The rears have different heights and rates. Factory spring rate is 150lbs.

895E = 375mm and 260lbs
889 = 400mm and 260 lbs
898 = 400mm and 318lbs
899 = 400mm and 387lbs.

Here is a comparison of a stock 4R compared to mine with OME coils. Both rigs are on the stock P265/70/17 tires.
