This is happening to mine.I took the back panel and cover off and it looks like the glass itself is getting caught.How do you fix the problem?

Might be the plastic slider bushing that rides in the track - the one that subsequently lifts the window accessed by removing the metal panel on the passengers side of the hatch. There is a ball fitting on the motor side that snaps into a plastic bushing in the track. Eventually, the bushing fails and the ball alone won't stay in the track to lift the window because it pops out of the bushing. I repaired one of these on the '98 4runner I sold last year by literally making one on the lathe out of some scrap delrin. The only other option if you don't have your own lathe is to buy the whole lift mechanism. .02¢ part failure forces you to buy $$$ parts.

You can buy the slider bracket from Toyota part number 69806-35010. Its very common for the plastic to break off..
I just replaced the tracks on one of my 4 runner as my driver side bracket rusted off. If your not in the rust belt. Most likely you will be able to reuse the bolts. If not your going to need new bolts for for your bracket. The nuts for the rear door (hatch)are built into the glass plastic bracket that attaches to the glass. If they are rusty get ready to have to put new bolts and replacement nuts in to attach the glass to the windows regulator. They are 10mm heads. So 6mm diameter threads. Probably need threads longer then 12mm as well closer to 14 or 16mm of threads so a nut can smash into the plastic. I used flange nuts when i fixed my rear window

I think the part I mentioned (maybe better described as a penny-size-diameter plastic donut bushing) is only available with the window regulator #6980735010 ~$226
