Bad cold start!

Hi i have a 1991 4runner 3.0 and in the mornings when its cold, i try to crank it over and it just cranks and cranks and barely sputters to life

My o2 sensors not working its bad,, i dont know if its the problem or not....i checked my cold start injector and its getting power, i also clened it with and brush (tiny hole brush?).....I dont know whats wrong and i dont want to replace the starter every month

help please!

Cold start timer switch or coolant temp sensor?

I'm not the best to give advice on a 3.0 but if the efi is anything like the 22re's then that is where I would start.

I know the feeling living up near the mountains. I put a new battery in last month, but I run a heavy oil which slows things. You might consider a battery with higher cold cranking amps. Use Heet regularly in your gas tank. One thing I have noticed about my 91 is that it just does not like the cold.

Blue arrow: Engine coolant temp switch
Red arrow: Engine coolant temp sensor

I started a thread on cold starting back in October. Here is that thread. My vehicle is a '94 SUV with a 3.0 VZE. The "Start Injector Time Switch" is hidden behind the engine. I have not found it yet. However, I called the stealership and they gave me two parts quotes. The switch would be $166.44 + tax and the injector $209 + tax. Last week I took the vehicle to a tune-up garage and told them about the cold starting trouble. They didn't correct it. I'm not sure if that's because they didn't know how or that it can't be corrected through mechanics. I think that my low oil pressure due to the rear main seal leak has something to do with it. What say ye?

I have t a weird oil pressure thing going on too.....when i bought the truck the oil pressure gauge never worked, so i went to a junk yard and picked up an oil pressure sending unit put it in and it still did not fix it..So then i unplugged the oil pressure sending unit connected the two wires on it to see if the instrument cluster was working and it did the oil gauge shot all the way up in the vehicle......I dont know what is wrong with the oil pressure i am stumped!!!the vehicle has 220000 on it and i think the engine would of blown up by now if it had any problems like that, ha ha.....but maybe ive seen weird stuff before
