After they fix your ride trade it in on a new ride of your choice. When the dealer writes up the deal if they discount your trade-in because of this accident have them indicate it on the deal. Now give this to your attorney and have him include it in your final settlement with the insurance company. I would not want to drive a truck that had that much damage, plus if you do keep it and then trade it 4 years down the road your still going to take a hit on the value, but by then you will have already settled with the insurance company. When I was in a bad accident 30 years ago and they finally settled the rule of thumb back then was 5 times the total cost of the accident was the settlement amount. Example car repair- $5,000
Hospital/doctor bills - $3,000
Additional (lost trade-in value) to your damaged car - $1,000
Loss of wages - $1,000
other expenses rental car etc. - $500
Total expenses - $10,500
Settlement from insurance company - $52,500
Lawyer gets - $21,000
You get - $31,500 - that is after they paid to fix your car.
Hopefully your Lawyer has already explained this to you, because in a accident that caused that much damage you can have problems from that impact 10 years from now, that is why the insurance company wants you to sign a medical release so if you do have problems they won't be on the line for all of the costs and your pain and suffering. Because until you settle and sign a release for your personal injury they are on the line for all of the costs. Do not sign anything without your Attorney reading it and giving you the OK. Also don't talk to the other persons insurance company. Have them talk only to your Attorney.
Good luck
