PIAA, they can be had for under $200 all day long if you know where to look and spend some time looking for them.... Ebay, amazon, ect. or KC slimlights

hella 4000's are amazing lights. Don't waste your time with stock Hella 500s or black magics. Their light output is a joke.
If you're looking for the best light output to cost ratio, order a pair of the old Hella 500 fogs (not the free form ones) and drop a 35w DDM HID kit in them. I run these off the road and they are nothing short of incredible.

If you're looking for strictly light output then the Hella 700 + 55 watt HID kit is hard to beat. They are very bright.

Do this^^ I also ran that setup on my old pickup. I'll search for the write-up I did on the conversion too. Absolutely crazy how bright they are!

Maybe but i think they are too think. the h3 hid bulbs are long. I did a 55watt hid conversion in a set of hella 700FF. they were crazy. I sold them because they were actually too bright for me.

Can't vouch for longevity, because I just threw them on, but normal price is $55, for a pair of 100watt halogens with a nice wiring harness.
I was part of a group buy and ended up getting a rebate for reviewing them, so they only cost me $20. :frog: May use them for reverse lights when I mount my HIDs.

Those definitely look like 500s, but not sure what pattern they are.
The reason the old fogs are the best is because the glass is what determines the pattern, not an internal reflector. Glass handles the HID dispersion better.
The 35W bulb in the kit from DDM should fit those, but you'll have to drill the 7/8 hole in the back for the grommet. It's a cake modification and install, and well worth it.
I bought a pair of new, old style 500 fogs with the intent of doing the HID swap. For kicks and giggles, I plugged them up with the stock 55w bulb before pulling them apart. No comparison to the HID.
The glass pattern creates a near flawless, hot-spot-less throw of amazing light.

It doesn't matter if it's the fog or the driving beam. Both will work.
You can use either a 35 watt or 55 watt kit. The bulb will be the same size either way.
