Battery drawing down over 2 days - winch the cause?

Bringing this back from the dead. Do you think people are introducing this problem by using unnecessarily large batteries? I’m running a standard group 24 agm starter battery (w/winch and dual compressor wired). As well as a Odyssey PC1400 aux battery powering my fridge, aux lighting and even my Oem+ audio setup. The stock alternator charges both batteries fine.

My truck sits idle all week and is used only on the weekend. Also have done many week+ off grid trips where my aux battery is drawn low from extended fridge use. Never had a problem.

The issue was from a cracked case. I had the same thing happen.

Most of use are running 31's from lack of space without major relocations for a second battery (13+ have smog pump where 2nd battery would normally go). I would love two smaller batteries and have even considered dropping a ton of coin on lithium based battery packs. bang for buck a single 31 is the easiest most cost efficient. There are kits now that make it easier, their weren't any 4 years ago when I did mine.

The second issue, the system itself is not ideal to charge Gel/AGM batteries. AGM require 13.4 to 14.4 to charge properly. Toyotas system rarely provides enough voltage to properly maintain AGM requirements. While a smaller battery may charge, because it is smaller, its life expectancy is still going to be shortened because of the lack of proper voltage. I put mine on a smart charge at least once a month, sometimes when I am not being to lazy to plug it in I will do it every week.

Your stock alternator isn't actually charging those fine, your batteries just haven't died yet
