Battery replaced and Nav/Radio issue

Changed the battery on our 10 LE today and at first start-up the Nav screen had the error message of No DVD. Removed the DVD and checked for scratches and there are none. Reinstalled. Error message still present; system not reading disk.

Do not see any warnings in owners manual or NAV reference guide that states to remove nav DVD prior to battery changes or any other warnings regarding battery disconnect and HU issues.

All electronic and HU functions were working properly before the battery was disconnected. It took less than 10 minutes to change out. The radio was turned off before the disconnect.

The stock HU was replaced under warranty about 20K miles ago after the Toyota bodyshop disconnected the battery while repairing damage in the tailgate. Factory warrantee long gone, now.

What electrical issue could be present to cause the HU to be damaged in this scenario? Seems suspicious that the 2 times the battery is disconnected leads to a HU malfunction.

Is there a method to reset the HU other than simply turning the truck off and on or removing the nav DVD? Not confident a new nav disk will solve the issue.

Any help to resolve is appreciated.

I cany say for certain, but a lot of newer cars come with a Headunit that requires a special code or somekind of other programming Key after replacing a battery. Basically it stops theives from being able to sue it in other vehicles if they steal it out of one.

I have no idea if the T4R has anything like this though. Good luck with your search though.
