I'll never know. I replaced panasonic 550 CCA 1 year ago; dropped in a "Odyssey Extreme", and my 2012 limited only has 13,000 miles on it now. Because I'd upgraded the electrical system to handle a hugh Horse power audio system, additional fogs, LED bar, a 270A alternator and heaver main current carrying cables, I couldn't take a chance with a battery that looks like it'd be right at home in a Corolla! :scared:

I'm on my original and I have a 2012 as well. Why you gotta bring this up!? The battery in my previous Accord lasted about this long and bit the dust with literally no warning. Started right up, drove to the store, came out and nothing. So dead it would not even try to crank. After a jump and a long drive, it held exactly 0% charge. I honestly didn't know you could go from working perfectly to dead in an hour with no attempted starts in between (and nothing left on). Now I'm paranoid again. Just gotta keep in mind that it's a Panasonic, and it won't play me like that....
I'm looking for a new one as well. 2012 OEM battery, likely on borrowed time. Are you guys looking at stock size or something slightly larger? :juggle: My electrical load isn't too heavy. I have an aftermarket head unit and 600W amp. No fridge or under hood compressor.
I'm kind of leaning toward Odyssey Extreme. Thoughts? The Desert is pretty brutal to batteries and I my original has lasted longer than any other battery I've every had.

Lots of threads here on battery upgrades to read up on, but most of us have moved over to the Odyssey batteries and have not had any problems (at least none that I've read about). High current drains are not the only reason to upgrade to an Odyssey either. I rarely drive my 4runner and truck, and they sometimes sit for weeks before being started (especially my '87 truck, it has gone 3 months without being driven, damned garage queen!), and the Odyssey has not failed me yet.
And, FWIW, my Panasonic from my '11 is still going strong! Of course, its been reduced to being a battery in my solar panel and battery setup in my shop, it runs a few lights and a couple other things in my shop 24/7!

Went with an Ody............love it.
Forgot to add, the 1500 will require a spacer as it's shorter (but longer) than stock Spacer for Group 34 batteries*| ODYSSEY Batteries, no mods necessary bolts right in.

Don't be! That battery whether Panasonic or sears was likely damaged or defective meaning, that the partitions that divide the six, 2V cells likely cracked, allowing the positive and negative plates to drain their charge... not your fault! If possible, maybe go with an AGM battery next time. They're designed differently and so when they go bad, they will do so over a duration across time, so no more surprises! :sobbing:

I just replaced the OEM Panasonic in my 4th gen. It never failed but it's been starting slow (sometimes really slow) since winter. I wanted to catch it before it completely failed so I replaced it with a Northstar AGM that I bought through a group buy on here. I can't remember the last time I heard the engine turn over so quick.
Still, 8 years and 151k is a record for vehicle batteries in my book, not to mention that battery still works it just doesn't have the power it used to.
Hopefully I can get that kind of life out of the battery in my 5th gen.
I've had brand new Fords (company vehicle) were the battery failed in 6 months.

Thanks for reminding me that my Runner is now a little over 4 years old with 151k miles on it and I have not replaced the battery yet.
I just ordered an Odyssey battery and spacer, hope it arrives before OEM battery fails. Because now that I know its subject to fail any moment, I will be thinking about it every time I start up.
