Bears

So I'm camping with my cousin in the mountains. Late in the evening he notices some activity near my 4Runner. I go to take a look and the driver's door is ajar. Suddenly a bear emerges, sees us, and exits the vehicle! I'm pretty shocked, the doors were closed but not locked. A moment later out comes bear #2! How many bears can fit into a 4Runner?

�� we have bears around my house daily in the e. sierras. If you dont lock your doors, they will very gently and professionally open them. and dig thru your car. can be a bad thing, i dont recommend testing it. Luckily they hate humans and are scared off easy. But if your door happens to close behind them and they get trapped inside, kiss your interior goodby. they will rip the dash off trying to get out.
We dont leave anything that smells like anything in our cars, removes the temptation and if they do happen to open a door, there's nothing there for them

I just checked on Toyota's website and they don't list seating capacity for bears..but apparently it's at least 2!!! :yo:

Yep, I see this all too often. Lock your doors!

It depends on the bear. We had a 700lb grizzly outside our tent (a few times) a few years ago in Alberta. I was within about 10 feet (he wasn't interested in me thank goodness) and I'd say 2 could have fit in the 3rd gen we had, but no more. Now get you're classic 300lb black-bear, they're the size of a large American that grew up on McDs.

My scientific answer based on the most common bear in North America, the black-bear) is 5 if they are using the two rows of seats and another 3 in the back if they get cozy. ☺
