beat the sh@t outta my car

so today when i went to sears auto to get a job app my runner got stuck and wont shift outta park, i ask the tech if he can help me he told me that the transmission is going bad whick remind me of (hideasian) i immediately went in to ape shit mode and start shakeing the car like crazy hope its just the tran fluid geting too thick and it will do it, put the key in start try to shift no luck. so i left my car at the parking lot and went to BK hoping maybe it will fix it on its own (has been happening a lot lately). after i finish my triple whopper with a large fried and coke. i went back to my car praying to god that it will go away. put the key in start shit, nope (FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA). when to king kong mode and start going to town on the shifter and start beating the crap outta of it. and all of a sudden there is a snap sound (sounds like plastic) and the car when to drive. i screamed with my friend whos also stuck wiht me in the parking lot with rain. we screamed so loud the whole sears department came out to look. i put in drive pushed ECT and O/D off drove off the lot with a long burning tire mark. the end.

You know you could use the emergency shift option to force the shifter out of P?

Mine got stuck in P once when it was raining hard. Turned out to be a bad brake light bulb.

if u have ever done this you wont know what it feels like, imagine your ar is hydro locked but it magicly turned over after you shake the car for 10 minutes then u be flooring it ouuta there like me too.

Sometimes its just that slight, sensual, ginger touch that will send such an arousing message to your car and get her going.

Push the shifter forward and then push the release button. Happens a lot in my Cressida and unlocks every time. Or you could just pop the cap and push the release button lol.

whats this cap everyone is telling me about my friend told me that there is a place where you can put your key into it and release

Near the shift lever, there's an awkward looking piece of plastic with a little groove/gap. You pop your key under it and pry the cap off and then you stick your key in the hole and that releases the locking mechanism on the shifter.

It's called the shift lock override and it's probably the piece of plastic you heard snap. I'm pretty sure every vehicle with an auto trans has one.

I was sick a while back with a bad cold. I couldn't get my 4Runner to shift either. Then I remembered to push in the clutch. Next time I'm sick, less NyQuil.

Anyway.....hope you get the job.
