Because one is not enough

I was one vehicle away from being a complete Toyota family. We had a 2010 Jeep 4-door still in the garage. We finally decided to trade it in.

First, I tried to find a Tundra Crewmax for a base. I just wanted the 5.7L, 4x4 and Entunes. I did not want the steps, $200 nitrogen filled tires, etc. I tried Toyota.com, build and price. I tried Cars.com. And the list goes on. I even tried Truecar.com. I got back emails from every dealership sending me a price of around $35k and change plus Entunes. I picked a dealer and they said, sure we can get that truck in 2 days so I bit the hook. And after wasting a few hours with them I got the old bait and switch routine. So I walked when I learned I cannot find my Crewmax, in the 5 state region, in my color choices without $3k in useless add-ons.

Next, I tried to get an FJ again. I missed my 2010 and thought I could have an FJ again. Geez, they are proud of the FJ now that it has been discontinued. They cost the same as a 2015 TE, I might as well get a new TE.

So to keep it brief. I know I want to sell the Jeep and get a Toyota. And the Tundra idea has collapsed. The FJ is not worth the asking price. So finally, I decided to get another 4Runner TE, but this time a premium in red.

I have ordered its lift already. Hopefully, it arrives this week and I can install it Friday night and get the alignment and tires on Saturday.

So for my 23rd wedding anniversary, we now have his and her 4Runners. The things you do when you get old.

Thought the OP could answered!!

For me the main reasons of not going with KDSS is to do a long travel suspension and taking out the sway bars ! Otherwise I don't see why ditching such a great system for a daily driver.

I don't know much about long travel. The KDSS one recorded a 771 on the RTI ramp with only Icon Stage 2. When I did the 2015, I did Icon Stage 2 and extended sway bar links. To me, the constraints are sway bar links and shock length.

I like one thing about KDSS. It makes it handle like a sports car through the curves.

I think the sway bar connections to the front LCAs was a very poor design. I like how Lexus did it. I believe that on the 4Runner it limited travel and off-road handling. If you are going to lift the truck and off-road it then I would not get KDSS.

What a great idea. Why not own two of these awesome vehicles. I need to talk to the wife about this.

She offered to take mine and I could get a Tundra. Luckily, the Tundra never materialized. And so once I knew she would take a 4Runner, I bought her one better than mine. The only condition is that she does not want a mom-mobile. The lift and tires are on the way.

I think the red one will be awesome. I am already jealous of hers.
