the lx10 is bigger and only option not available for the gx is the 4 wheel height control vs rear wheel for the gx. all your paying for is bigger engine, bigger size, one extra person, and .6 second diff in 0-60...yeah thats enuf to blow away the gx right?

the 4runner and gx are very appropriately in same midsize suv class and so its fair ground to compare. has been since 2003.

in all fairness, the premium with loaded options should be compared to 4runner only if those options are added to 4runner, in which case if they were (the pcs monitor system, rses, pa = $6070 more msrp), the real price difference would be 15K or so, and its well worth it to me. a fully loaded 4runner with nav and 3rd row seat has an invoice around 40K, for the premium gx with Nav only and PA, its about 55K. and even so, the gx is a real bargain compared to other manufacturers out there (bmw, range rover, Mercedes). toyota did a great job with the gx in price and did exactly what was expected, pushed potential 4runner buyers who want more to the lexus.

last i checked, lexus was made by toyota.

Well, there's more to it than what you listed. The frame on LX is stronger, the underbody is much cleaner, the suspension components are bigger, more sound deadening, etc. The only advantage of the GX is the available HID.

BTW, which Range Rover and MB did you compare to?

i saw a couple of videos of people making fun of the lx 570 in the middle east. it was stuck in the sand and got towed out by another vehicle which i cant identify. If i had the money, i would go for the lx for sure.

Remember, wimpy highway tires are the limiting factors of these SUVs. Your GX would have been stuck too. My old G-wagen would have too. That was not really my point. There is no question as to the build quality and structural strength superiority of the LX/Land Cruiser over the GX/4runner. Now, one can make an argument that the 4runner TRAIL has more off-road capability than the LX/TLC...but this argument is limited to just the TRAIL EDITION.

Yeah, i would pick the GX over the GL also. If i was a pure on-road person, then i may pick the BMW if i was not planning on keeping it past 50k miles. :D
 
As far as the 4Runner v. LC & GX v. LX, I'd go with the larger ones if money was no factor. They have all the goodies, more room inside, and are simply the best SUVs available, IMO.

As it stands, I have to make the payment and put gas in my cars, so the 4Runner is perfect. :)

I thought your name was alluding to the 4Runner? And after all that discussion months ago, you decided not to get one? Probably for the best, since you seemed to be more interested in a highway vehicle rather than off-road. The GX would probably be a little much to convert into an off-roader, though it would be a novelty :D

I don't understand your links. What is your point? Are you trying to somehow show that your GX is better or more reliable?? Sure, the LX570 has a few issues...it is a brand new redesign. Are you so certain that your GX won't have issues over the next two years? Hell, even before it got on track, it already got a major recall! I don't recall the LX ever having that kind of recall out of the gate.

The bottom line is that the LX is a superior vehicle to the GX in every single way except for price and available HID...and it should be given that its entry price is much higher. :shrug:

I doubt it. The 4.6 has more torque and HP than the 4.7. It is more a case of power to weight ratios. The GX460 (curb weight 5300 lbs) is even heavier than the GX470 (curb weight 4900 lbs).
