Beige\Tan interior?

Hey Folks,

Quick question to the 5 gen owners with Beige\tan interiors. Do you folks find that it stains easily at all or would get damaged any quicker than the dark interior. My and I are debating which color to purchase and like the Blizzard Pearl however it only comes with the beige interior in Canada and she is worried that when we have kids they will stain the tan seats easily.

Any input is appreciated.

I have a BP with beige interior. No issues staining/getting dirty but wish I would have gone with the black interior. Looks nicer IMO. :driving:
 
I have the sand beige leather in mine and have not had any problems so far. I only have about 2K miles, but so far so good. I do use Adam's Leather and Interior cleaner though every time I have cleaned it and then I treat it with their leather conditioner. So that helps. I love the tan inteior since I couldn't get the solid black without stepping up to the Limited.

I would think that if something spills though and it is promptly cleaned up that there shouldn't be any problems. Maybe someone who has had their 4R longer can help out more.
 
I can't tell you if it shows stains more or not but my wife and I had the same concerns. We went back and forth about leather and finally decided we didn't want it. Once that decision was made, we opted for the Silver exterior, in large part, because it came with the dark graphite interior.

Some DIY scotchguarding would probably help. I'm probably going to do ours. The dealer tried to sell us a package that included it, but I don't need to pay someone else to apply something I can go buy myself and spray on the seats.

There's always something to worry about, though. Now the wife is concerned that hauling sweaty boys around to/from games and practices will mess the seats up. I'm currently shopping for a rear seat cover to prevent that. If I had leather, I'd worry about it cracking or getting bad looking over time or getting cut somehow. One thing is for sure, they can't stay new forever.
 
I have a BP with Biege interior leather. We have 4 kids, ages between 12 and 1. Have not experienced issues with the leather yet.

But I did notice that the front passenger side got a light blue stain twice. Once was when my wife rode in it, the other time was when a co-worker (jeans friday) rode with me to lunch. I have been watching out for the stain, but it does not happen consistently. No such problem on the driver or the rear seats.

I have a ltd bp with tan - i wear dark blue jeans alot (can wear to work so i am always wearing) the tan leather picks up some of the dye from my jeans - i just clean it and condition it a bit more than i normally would because of
this but it comes off easy with a leather cleaner.
 
If you are talking about the beige/tan fabric, yes it stains easily. The nice thing is, the floors are black carpet (thank God) or else those would start to look dirty fast.

I Scotch Guarded all my seats when it was brand new and spills/stains clean up easily. I agree with someone else who mentioned blue jeans staining the seats. I noticed this on the passenger side, as my wife wears newer jeans and the blue tends to bleed.

My personal opinion is, the beige/tan looks nicer than the black. Also note that if you live in a hot environment, all black interiors get extremely hot.

My daughter jumped horses in competition when she was growing up. We used Lexol cleaner and Lexol leather conditioner on her saddle, boots, and harness etc. its terrific.

I also use it on my seats, restoring wet boat shoes, and holsters. I used it on a belt that covered in mold and it came back perfectly. Has something to do with having a similar PH to leather and tanning oils.
 
a little off topic but curious as to what other leather cleaner/conditioners you guys use?

my tan leather has the blue jean discoloration.

Liquid stains are much easier to see on light colors. My children are pretty much grown so don't have to worry about that much but I ride mountain bikes...enough said. The lighter colors also show wear and wrinkles over time as darker colors, while the wear and wrinkles are there, does not show as much. I did put gray mats in my 4runner to lighten up the "darkness" of the floor. Oh, hair, such as dog and cat, show more on darker than lighter interior. Took my 'ol coon dog to the vet yesterday, and vaccumed it yesterday.
 
I have tan cloth with 2 kids, and no issues. I even had a nice balsamic vinegar incident during the first month of ownership that cleaned up well.

I also agree that the tan looks nicer, and I put tan Weathertech digital liners to lighten things up a bit on the floor.

My 97 4Runner had tan cloth as well, and only real sign of wear was on the driver seat from use. But if they all last for 14 years, I will stick with them.

Also tan does not show golden retriever hair near as much as black.

Same thing on my Black sr-5. The two-tone look with the tan leather/dash and black carpet is awesome.....well worth the extra upkeep IMO>
 
So we finally decided to pull the trigger on a BP LTD. W Navigation and Beige interior. Thanks for all the info all you folks provided especially you guys that have the beige/tan interior. Thanks for letting me know about the issues and resolutions with the beige/tan interior.
 
I have a 2010 Limited with 24,000 miles on it (bought it new in Jan of 2010...one of the first ones on the road) and I have tan interior (leather). No probs at all, and we have little kids (8 and 10). If you were getting the cloth I would be concerned but the leather is great...no problems.

Awesome, We have only had the chance to see one Tan interior first hand and I did notice a little discoloration on the drivers seat. The folks in this thread have suggested a leather cleaner which works wonders. Can't wait for our BP LTD to arrive!
