305/30/26....towed in,customer had a flat.....

customer wanted state inspection on sons 2005 expedition...the entire frame was like this. They wanted to price a new frame

another shop used a pound of this "goo" and 2 bags of balancing beads to TRY and balance a tire that was really smaller than the customer should have tried to have installed on his wheels

ball joint/arm broke while pulling it in the shop

And yet there are people on this forum, that think only Toyota frames will rust into oblivion, when neglected.

That resembles my Neighbors old Mercury Mountaineer, that was the same age as my 4Runner But his Mountaineer became junk years ago due to neglect. Meanwhile, my 18 year old 4Runner still looks nearly as good as the day I bought it new off the lot.

Let this be a lesson to everyone to wash their undercarriage as often as necessary, when the vehicle is used in a highly corrosive environment.

The question is why the hell did they put THAT much IN the tire?

None should end up in the tire,but it happens. When setting a bead with low profile tire onto a wider rim (eg. "Luxury wheels") you may need to use several tricks at once to get the bead to set. One of them is to use A LOT of that soap to basically make it airtight just for that spilt second for the quick air and air blaster(air cannon,cheeta) to set the bead. In doing so some may end up in the tire. But that is literally last resort, and not to be done when the rim had a TpMs

On some really low profile or odd rims, I'll run a LIGHT rub of mounting paste on the inside of the rim to help the tire stretch/seat better. But it's never been enough to mess with the TPMS, but that is a ridiculous amount of it.

Ya well to stay on topic of this thread i wish i had taken pictures in my years at a tire shop. Just think about those bad ass "tucked wheels" running a 10" wide wheel and the tire is only 7 1/2" but the customer demands you make it work... So you do haha....after you get them to sign a waiver of course

I was bored recently, so I decided to grease the Zerks, and generally check over the old 4Runner.

Laying there under the 4Runner, admiring it's pristine undercarriage, I realized I could keep it another 18 years, if I choose to.

That was just what he could fit in his hand we had to basically wash the tire out. Let's just say it didn't balance very well and the customer left that shop and drove 60 miles to ours lol
