Which skid plate are you talking about - the front one or the other original ones? The original ones, that cover the engine, tranny and gas tank are not that strong. But I wouldn't call them "worthless." They have saved my underside many times. I will say that I have had to beat them back into shape, and the ones in front are mangled pretty well - to the point that if they take much more, I will probably have to replace.r32 said:i heard the stock toyota skid plate is worthless. can someone confirm?

Speaking of which, if I do replace the engine/tranny skid plates, is there a better (stronger) after-market one to get?
Yeah, those Budbuilts are a pretty serious looking item! I don't know if I could justify the cost of one though - does anybody know the price of the factory ones?BlairB said:Budbuilts are supposed to be a really good product
I too would like to know if the Jao's Skid Plate is strong?lawwailok said:how about Jao's skid plate? are those pretty strong? i know the price is pretty steep.

Wonder what one costs?
