Best Cooler

I'm looking to purchase a new cooler and I am tired of buying crap coolers that break. I think I have narrowed it down to Yeti and Engel. Most likely the 60 qt. Both are Certified Bear Resistant, both thickly insulated, basically they all have the same claims. I want to know if anyone out there has one, or has experience with one that they can enlighten me.

I have three Tundra Yetis and they have held up well for me for 4+ years. My neighbor had his top crack (let it sit in the sun way too long along with putting a car battery on it) and they sent him a replacement for around cost (his is about 5 years old). They should hold up well to the Tex heat.

I just ordered a YETI 75. All other I wanted are on back order ( I really wanted the 105.

Everything I have ever heard about the Yeti has been positive. I know a few hunters and fishermen that swear by them.

I don't know your exact use for the cooler (other than keeping things cold LOL) but if you plan on hauling it around in your runner most of the time one item that I will throw out there are the ARB fridges. I have been around a handful of those and I must say I digg'em. No ice ever needed keeps stuff as cold as the fridge at your house with no mess! It is on my bucket list for the runner.

Yeti coolers are awesome, we use them at work to keep drinks cool on deck when out in the gulf. they keep ive for days.

The local Cabela's had a promo video of the Yeti coolers where some 400 lb. guy beats the crap out of it, and it just takes it and waits for more. They sure seem like a solid choice for those who don't mind the entry fee.

I considered a top end cooler, but decided for my needs that the money was better spent on a car fridge. I got a Dometic (formerly Waeco) fridge and it is awesome. It can keep things cool or even freeze stuff in no time. When I'm away from a power source I use one of those portable jump starter things to keep it running for a while. The only con to these is their weight and space that is taken up by the compressor.

Having used a fridge-freeze for quite a while, I hadn't even heard of those coolers. After looking into them, wow...are they pricey. For the price of the larger models you could get a fridge. Now, yes...you'll be getting a much larger capacity at that price by going with the Yeti...but you also don't need to worry about ice taking up much of that capacity.

You could probably get a larger model fridge-freeze and get pretty close to stuffing the equivalent amount of items into it that you would the larger cooler with the ice. Plus, smaller overall means more room for other things in the truck.
