Best Icon Stage 1 Pricing

Hello all -

I'm about to pull the trigger on a straight Icon Stage 1 full suspension with Light Racing UCAs (just ordered the UCAs thanks to the group buy!). I've done a LOT of looking around, and I saw that Demello was offering 20% off at one point (but may not be any longer). Harper7 also pointed me to a thread where another guy mentioned that Outlaw Offroad out in Santa Ana was offering a discount as well.

So... has anyone procured a Stage 1 recently at a good price? Anyone aware of any group buys going on that I didn't stumble upon?

They don't list the 4Runner parts but 5th Gen are the same as 2010+ FJ Cruiser. Just to make sure you get the updated V2.0 rear shocks you may want to order the parts individually.

I just ordered my Light Racing UCAs from them, and they shipped within 8 hours of me placing the order (for free!). There was also some issue with my CC going through (I was on a ****ty connection in the UK), and they called me about 10 minutes after I placed the order to fix it. That kind of customer service alone might sway me to order from them anyway.

I'd still love to see if anyone else has some recommendations, though!

So, I see the 2.0 shocks on the IVD website (ICON Vehicle Dynamics - V.S. Series - 2.0 Aluminum Shocks), but I don't see "red shocks" or any that looked compatible with the FJ or 4R; didn't see them on Metal Tech either. Can you expound upon this?

BUY SEPARATELY.
The kits are priced up when they are sold together. Look for the parts
separately and add it up, they will almost always be cheaper.

These prices are the lowest I have found so far (lower than both demello and metal Tech). Free shipping also! I also understand these are different components than you will need for the Stage 1 (with the exception of the rear springs) but I'm sure they have similar discounts across the board. At that rate, I'm still saving almost $200 off the MSRP *without* the remote reservoir for the front coilovers. Will I need it? Probably not, but it's there if I do! :hungry:

Did I screw-up on any of the part numbers?

Part numbers look good. The remote Res for the front aren't really needed for normal off-road use, but for only 200 more, you might as well grab them. Im planning on doing the same. Also, Outlaw SHOULD beat the price, I think I read somewhere that they will beat any price + 1 dollar. Keep us posted!

You don't want the long travel rears get the 5-6505 rear shocks these will also be shipped free instead of the $70 they want to ship those long travels.

"Please note that these shocks will only work if you have a 3" bump stop extension otherwise you will bottom out the shock! Also keep in mind that if you try to use these shocks with a standard 2" lifted spring, the spring will fall out of it's bucket on down travel."

I was looking at overland warehouse shocks, but with the price being comparable, I might consider some Icons

Wow, I totally missed that bit about the long-travel shocks. I was flipping back and forth between browser tabs checking-out pricing, and I must have completely overlooked it. I'll go back to the standard shocks. Thanks for pointing that out!

The remote reservoir helps prevent overheating/aeration of the oil in the shock absorber. The remote reservoir allows the absorber to hold more oil to increase heat dissipation when the shocks are being overworked for a sustained period of time. Will I need it for most off-roading? Probably not. But, for the price I think it's worth the upgrade should I need it.

Those are some great prices you guys are finding. I'm local to Outlaw Offroad and purchased from them directly. This was about 1.5 years ago and they were the cheapest I could find locally and on the web. They installed my stage 2 kit and did it free of charge!

Oh, and not trying to brag or anything (just proud) but my 5th gen was the first they ever worked on. If you go to their shop they have a big poster on the wall (maybe 10'x10') and it's a picture of my lifted 4runner! How awesome is that to have your truck immortalized in an offroad shop!?!

Why would extended travel shocks need a limit for compression and not extension. Also, why would extended travel need a compression limit and standard not need it? The statement would make more sense if things are the other way around.

Grant, This concerns long travel shocks not extended travel, long travel is a whole different animal compared to the suspension set-ups we are talking about here. Guys correct me if I am wrong here, for compression limits on stock height or 3 inch kits they use the OEM bump stops. For extension the shock is the limiting factor.
