Best Lift for the Non-Offroader?

did your MPG suffer at all with that?

I'm sure it will.........just got it this weekend. Feels a tad sluggish but probably bc of sitting higher. We'll see.........

I'm having some rubbing issues, most likely due to the spacers. I kept the stock size tires........granted thicker tread pattern. Oh well, I'll trim the plastic and call it a day.

I like my set up. As many have stated, brake dive diminished, with a firm road like manner, yet in no way harsh. Bilstein front .085, with Bilsteins and rear spacers. Nice highway feel, no wandering. My 2001 with OME quite different, but I knew what to expect and still happy with ride quality.

It makes me feel very sad inside knowing you bought that vehicle, lifted it, and will not be taking it offroad.

It's blasphemy.

Sort of the feeling I get when I see Raptors, and lifted pickups...you know they never go offroad. No utility or function to it, just for the looks. Sort of like a woman buying a $1000 purse.

And just like said woman, I wear my brand of interests with Pride!!

lets not forget that not planning taking a 4r off road doesn't equal not ever taking it; Truck may end up off the pavement one day, and OP will have more options if need strikes.

Whichever kit you do go, I would strongly recommend staying away from toytech. Too many horror stories of guys breaking there stuff. It's all made and assembled overseas to a low standard of quality. Most people that have issues wind up switching to ICON.

Same can be said of LR UCA's, although I am not sure where they are made. Plenty of people have run into issues with these, even having problems with snapping the actual control arm. I can't see how they can advertise a control arm being lighter than factory as a good thing.....

I would recommend Bilstein if you wanted a straight lift. But ICON will give you the best on-road ride.

My Toytec lift has Eibach coils and Bilstien 5100s:/

GGRRRR........I don't understand why I'm getting such bad rubbing!!.......stock size tires and 3" front lift........It must be the spidertrax but I really didn't want to shave any plastic from the fender well

Rubbing on the mud flap on the front tires? I have 265/70 r17 BFG KO with roughly a 3" lift and spidertrax. I had to have the caster set to 3.6-3.9 deg to not rub the mud flap. If it is less than that they would rub a little. I went ahead and trimmed the flaps to avoid it altogether. If I put on 33s I will have to do a body mount chop. Just the nature of the 4th gen t4r.

No, the front bumper and fender lining, in front of the front tires.

Probably just a typo, but I'm referring to a 2015 5th Gen.

That is the exact spot on the front bumper they trimmed on the Pros at port. They were apparently rubbing there as well.

LR UCA's are advertised as lighter then stock? Mine are quite a bit heavier then stock.

I'm on 285's & 4.75"BS & LR UCA's. I pushed the fender liner forward but my front bumper is rubbing pretty good on reverse. Seems like that lower section on the bumper is completely unnecessary along with the gigantic body mounts.

I have to be that guy. If you are not taking it offroad, then don't lift it. Lifting will reduce fuel economy, worsen handling, cause more dive on braking, etc.

not necessarily true IME. i have a 2 inch lift all the way around, slightly bigger P rated tires (275's), spacers and new wheels which are quite a bit lighter than stock. the new suspension pretty much eliminates brake dive, the stock amount was frightening and ridiculous. overall it handles better. less roll in corners, more solid feeling on highway. maybe harsher over speed bumps.

overall i am about 0.5 litres more per 100km than stock. in USAican thats a 1 MPG loss.

of course if you lift it 3 inches and put heavy 285's on there and a bunch of skids and extra weight you're going to see more dramatic changes.

5100's all the way around (supposedly 2.5 in the front, although it measures more like 2) and a custom spacer in the rear (measures close to 2")

Update

So it's been a few months now since I had the 3"/2" spacer lift installed.........I'd have to say I love the stance and ride height.......and ReadyLift was true to their word about it not changing the stock ride.....Mostly.....it does feel like the rear hits the bumps a lot harder being that its a 2" spacer for the coil and stock shocks. Feels harsh.

I'm getting a bit tired of the Trail's harsh ride. I love KDSS when it comes to cornering and body roll, but I definitely want a softer shock/spring combo. I feel every little crack and pebble in the road, both before and after the lift.

I've done a lot of searching/reading, but haven't seen any definite answers if the Trail, in fact, has differently tuned shocks/springs than the SR5. Is it just the KDSS that makes things feel stiffer with road bumps and whatnot?

Any recommendations? Would a full upgrade to the Boss or Ultimate kits be the right thing for me?......or would that make the ride even stiffer?

Sorry, I'm exhausted from reading. Even just the links to the right threads would be much appreciated!!
