So I wouldn't be using A-Trac. If I just put it in 4wd it wont let the tires spin and cuts the power. So I should hit the button once or hold it to turn everything off?
I wish I had a dedicated bogger. I do have a Grizzly 550 and Polaris Ranger 700 when it gets so bad that we can't get the trucks down the roads.
A-TRAC is a separate function, what you are talking about is the traction control system. to turn off traction control (Toyota calls it Vehicle Stability Control, the associated dash light says TRAC), press and hold the VSC button until both icons appear on the dash
this is the feature that annoyingly cuts your power when the wheels slip in mud.
A-TRAC on the other hand, functions like an electronic limited slip differential. It works in concert with your brakes, but rather than limiting power, it actually applies the brakes to a specific wheel when the wheel speed sensors detect one wheel is spinning faster than the others (loses traction). in this case, power to the other 3 wheels is not reduced, as may be the case when a loss of traction is detected by the VSC system. A-TRAC only works in 4-LO at slow speeds (5mph> IIRC), and the instructions for activating it can be found in my previous post, or in your owner's manual.
A-trac is always on in 2h or 4h - you have to switch it on in 4l.
you're confusing VSC and A-TRAC. see above.
