Interesting, but at least with our rigs the wipers won't be pushing crazy amounts of water into the intake. My filter's never been wet even driving through rain so bad the wipers couldn't keep up. YMMV. :shrug:

For the Dobinsons guys, a possible tip that might work.
I don't have one and can't find a picture of the mounted (inside) of the snorkel.
But if there are outlines of the intake portion and mounting posts then place some kind of goop/glue on those portions, align the snorkel where it needs to be and press it down.
You should leave an outline of the locations (either general or specific depending on how much goop/glue you used) on the body panels that you can then pinpoint specifically where you need to drill and cut.
Ive used this method for some other projects and figured it might help as every one had the same complaint about the template.

Anyone have any experience with the Alphaequipt units? They have the openings facing towards the rear of the vehicle though.
Funny that you mentioned that, I called them and talked to a 'Chris' yesterday after emailing them about the Snorkel.
The 'Short' ones they have in stock, the 'Long' ones have a 4-week build time on the initial order date.
I had a good conversation, pretty much both are viable options (Short or Long), more people purchase the shorts as they are much more able to work on vehicles that have a full rack.
The 'Long' version does not work on any full rack; There also hasn't been any drive to make a compatible version for those with a full-rack.
Also during R&D on both the Short and Long versions, I asked about water intake; Chris said that despite the fact that the Long version sits on the 4Runner's 'Rain Channel' that one would have to shovel water into the intake opening for it to ingest any water; But since he was doing his testing in the PNW during the wet season, even on torrential down pours, nothing got into the talls or shorts.
**Also, I made mention about Group Buys. I have his email, but Group Buys would have to be for those who really want to spend more than ARB prices for a Snork.**
They also offer a 10% Discount if you call in direct and are a Active / Veteran / First Responder
I contacted FTS via Facebook and they got back to me about the pricing. Pricing was $315/each. Shipping was slightly more than the snorkel itself. If there was enough interest for a group buy then I think it would be feasible. I also reached out to a previous dealer who had imported them who said they would assist with import if we had enough people who wanted these.

Too funny, I messaged them on IG and they asked if I called them. I ordered the long version from YotaMafia so I could use Affirm. They said 3-4 week lead time on them. I created some fake photos here to see what it will look like on my rig once installed, LOL.

Has anyone managed to fit a Cold air intake kit on a 4Runner that has a snorkel? If so, what was involved?

A snorkel with a high performance air filter is a better cold air intake than a fast and furious style one that goes under the hood, since air from up at the roofline is closer than air closer to the ground.

I know the TRD intake works with the ARB safari snorkel. I would imagine as long as the intake tube size is the same on any aftermarket intake as the OEM intake, it would work with a snorkel since those are designed to work with the OEM intake.
Oh and ARB SAFARI FTW.....lol jk jk I do love my ARB snorkel though

I haven't actually found a Snorkel I want to get yet, I'm still up in the air myself.
I'm beside myself on the idea of an AlphaEquipt, but I don't know if I can stomach the close to 1k price point for it; That and, I believe their Snorkels are good for people that have Gram or FaceTube rigs; My 4Runner is black, and scratched to ****, I'd hate to scratch up a Carbon Fiber Snorkel.
ARB- Its still a toss up as I've heard they're much more Durable than a Dobinson, but... "SaFaRi" on the side is just mega-cringey for me.
Dobinson: I've heard is weaker walled than ARB, no "SaFaRi" logo, but just concerned about the durability.
FTS: Meh- Fiberglass scares me a little more than plastic.
TJM: I'd like to get one of their Snorkels, only if they did like they did with the Prado and bend it out away from the window than have it tuck up close; Full Length Rack and I'm kinda hindered, y'know?

ARB all day long. Me and my buddy beat the crap out of ours on some narrow and slow forest trails and tight and fast desert runs.
I'd stay away from fiberglass or hand laid carbon fiber parts that has a clear coat or gel coat, because if you thought pinstripping on your body panels is bad, its going to be far worse on that snorkel, and if you aren't careful, crack and punch a hole in it. I've also checked a few of them at some of the local meets, from pictures and from far away, they look good. Up close, the finished product/details leave alot to be desired (exposed fiberglass, epoxied chickenwire / mesh for snorkel opening, and unfinished edges).
