The LC looks like a step back, at least from the outside, do not like the styling, looks cheap and toy like. The LC is suppose to be more refined, especially for the price.
I do not need to purchase something by the end of '23, however I 'need' to know what I plan to purchase then. If they at least announce and show the 6th Gen then I can plan forward. Most vehicles I have purchased have been ordered as they have not had what I want in stock so I need to plan for that amount of time.
14 years with the same center console that they can't even both to fill the heated seat switch blanks from the initial few years is beyond pathetic, IMO.
I was set on the sequoia until I saw the train wreck of the cargo area. I hope they don't make the same mistake on the 4R.
It is what it is as they say. Some people can wait, others can't - not going to make everyone happy. At least there are options out there.
I still can't decide on the new LC to be honest. I don't care for the retro headlight version, but kind of dig the modern headlights with the contrast roof. I'll probably take a look at one once they are out (along with the GX550) as a possible 4Runner replacement. I imagine mark up is going to be absolutley stupid for awhile though, albeit I have only bought Toyotas from a MSRP dealer.
I completely get you on ordering, 4 of my last 6 vehicles have either been custom orders or intercepts of a specific incoming vehicle with a multi-month wait and or a trade between dealers. One of the 2 I got off a lot was a custom order that had financing fall through and was built beautifully (I got really lucky). I'm in the same boat with my Rover right now which I plan on ditching by April 2024. European custom orders can easily be a 3 to 5 month wait (or more).
Also agree on the Sequoia; the third row and cargo area is an absolute wreck. I haven't really seen pictures of the third row/cargo setup in a GX550 (which doesn't have the hybrid max system), but I'm definitely a bit worried seeing the load floor having to be raised on the LC to accomodate the batteries with a solid rear axle.
My guess is if they do a hybrid version of the 6th gen 4Runner, it'll likely be on the Trailhunter and TRD Pro trims without a third row (similar to the 2024 Tacoma power train distribution). We shall see...
