Best Way to order a cavalry blue trd pro 2018

I just made a deposit on one today from a local dealer they said they would get me one. I clarified calvary blue, so hopefully it works out they are telling me 3 to 6 months. I just like the color, it was either cavalry blue or cement, as I have a cement 2013 fj cruiser trail team. In utah at least it looks like they keep there value more.

Congrats! That will be a nice addition to your rigs. They hold there value great, better than any other trim. A vehicle is a liability not an asset so if you end up with one that you love and it holds its value, is that a bad thing? Only if your a troll without one. Enjoy and don't mind the haters and trolls, they can't help it.

The superbird was a bit more than just a unique color and some badging. The superbird was the equivalent of the buying a C7.R corvette. A TRD Pro is not a performance package in the same sense. It's mid grade shocks, and appearance farkle. Don't get me wrong - appearance is a big part of buying a new car. I didn't even ever test drive a 4th gen 4runner because I hated the styling - still do. I'm sure they're great vehicles. I often lust after a Land Rover LR4 - even though it's a horrible vehicle, because I think they have great styling. If you really must have the special color - go for it! Just don't be confused into thinking that it's going to be worth more than every other color in a few years. The only color I personally like is Inferno - but since it didn't come with KDSS, it was a nonstarter.

What you may not be aware of this, but that the TRD Pro isn't even the best offroad model of 4runner. The TRD OR with KDSS is. If there were any model that would be unique - it's the Trail/OR with KDSS. But none of them are special. All GX460's and LC200's come with KDSS too. All 4runners will have similar used value in 5 years. Condition will have a lot more to do with resale value than sub-model. And if you actually use it offroad - you're not going to be getting top dollar on resale.

On the plus side - the resale on all 4runners has historically been really good. What would kill the resale is a turbo 2.7L 4cyl in the 6th gen. If the 6th gen gets 25mpg on the highway and has 350hp/tq, the 5th gen values will drop significantly. Much like the 2nd gen did after the 3rd gen 5VZ was light years better.

Imagine that, finding a Mopar expert on a Japanese truck forum!? And all these years I thought the Superbird was just an aero/appearance package. That is, you could order anything a Superbird was equipped with performance wise (engines, suspension, brakes, etc.) on a regular Road Runner you just couldn't get the aerodynamic accoutrements. Maybe you can provide me with the authoritative citations that can set me straight?????

Real happy to learn my daughter's new GX460 has KDSS, that's one offroading rig if I ever saw one!!!

Dream on if you think your 6th gen prognostication will come true. Turbocharging is the wave of the future, I have not problem accepting 325 hp and 375 tq out of a 2.7 4 cyl!!!

I think as long as you don't end up paying more than msrp, you'll be ok. I told myself this would be the only time I would even consider paying msrp for a car. At the end of the day, you have to ask yourself if this (trd pro) is what you really want. It's all a personal choice. Sure, haters will hate. Whatever, it's your own money. Why should we really care, right?

For me, I paid msrp for my cement pro. $43.5k and with ttl, roughly $48k. Fast forward 7 months and 10k miles, I realized the vehicle wouldn't work for my family. We primarily needed the flexibility of having 3 rows and although nice to have, the trd pro was beyond what I would ever need or use. So last week, I sold it. I got 45k for it and because my buddy is a gsm at a local toyota dealer, I let him do the paperwork for the private sale for $500 and he sold me a brand new SR5 Premium for $38k OTD. If you do the math, I "lost" $3500 to drive the pro for 7 months. Comes out to exactly $500/month lease. My wife was able to live with that and I haven't been kicked out of the house.

The question is, did you feel like you were in a pipe dream?

Or did you feel let down and cheated that you didn't sink a boat load of money into aftermarket "upgrades" and options (maybe even a JRandom special, keen paint job) so that you lost your a$$, but at least you could say you were a member of the "Snarky Bastard" club?

No one is dissuading anyone from buying anything. More like expect to pay a premium. We derail pro threads (not necessarily in this thread) simply because the verbal masturbation gets to much to handle and it just becomes fun to be a snarky bastard.

See above and below :) and no one cares what someone buys.

That is a misconception, there is no hate. The general level of bro'ness that starts to happen is laughably unbearable. I thought it was just me at first... then others started noticing and commenting on it too.

:)

Must have been a slow day proofreading your badges??

Or 175/400 out of a 2.8L :zoom:

Massachusetts I don't think is that competitive, fortunately. I walked into a dealer and put down a $500 deposit mid August. I think I'm the only one in line there. They called last week and said they got a blue allocation and should be here end of October. Price is MSRP...maybe lower

 What are you even rambling on about now 15? Hitting the recreational a little heavy? You didn't even comprehend what I wrote in my first post. Talk about starting off on the wrong foot, you can't even read two sentences. What paint job are you talking about? Exactly what "ass" has anyone lost? Or were you just being presumptuous? I actually thought you were intelligent for a second, my bad, I should of known better anonymous forum user #122,473...

BTW, I have been driving a 2002 4runner since January 2005 so don't lump me in with the other guys.
Oh okay I won't...
and I have price protection (in my market) for at least several years. At that point I could buy a 6th generation or something else with little financial loss. What's not to like?
Huh, but wait? To much talking about pipes get you stoked? Weeds only been legal in your state for a few years and your short term memory is already that shot? :hat:

Must have been a slow day proofreading your badges??

Haha, what makes you say that? Old hat with the badges thing BTW, can't come up with anything better? Obviously not. I actually made those for someone else on this forum, people liked them, I left it up, people continue to buy them, what can I say, what's not to like? You seem to think me providing something that other people want massages my ego, like you having a "Pro" massages yours. It doesn't, stated earlier, Law of Supply and Demand. Oh gees, wait I misspoke you don't even have a Pro yet and your already talking smack  :thumb: You'll fit right in with the special group that thinks "haters gunna hate" and "they're all trolls". LOL Holy fk does anyone know how stupid that sh!t sounds.

You can try to sound snarky, seriously, it doesn't work you. Keep it up, I like listening to your dribbling self justification for paying more money for something that most people normally wouldn't and how much better you are than everyone else for doing it.

Oh and I was sincere when I said enjoy your new truck. You took that wrong too, I didn't even use green text. You should head back to school for Interwebz 101...

MatraBlue dude...relax man. go have a beer and just chill....life's to short to get all wound up over a forum. good grief!

How about all you jackasses go start your own pissing match thread. This is supposed to be a thread about ordering a Cavalry blue TRD Pro. Not whether people are dumb for buying an "appearance package". God damn it....

I've tried this.

Free range, non explicit, semi respectful trash talk

I wanted to direct all nonsense into one place. Failed miserably and left me with a warning from a mod eventually.

Welcome to the Internet.

I am looking to order a 2018 trd pro in cavalry blue, and all the dealers are telling me they cant get me one? Anyone recommend some dealers near utah that can get me one that is not over msrp?

In my experience, Toyota doesn't really let your "order" what you want. You either take what they have on the lot or keep waiting.

They are banking on the fact that you will be so excited to get a new car, you pop for anything on the lot. Including extended warranties, extra under coating, glass breakage and theft insurance, extra oil changes, floor mats and a lot of other BS crap they try to tack on.

There are some dealerships that will look for incoming shipments and try to request vehicles from the shipment be directed to them, but even that doesn't seem to be a perfect system. If there are not enough requests from a particular shipment to go to a particular port near your dealership, then the ship goes to where ever Toyota decides needs the inventory. This is probably no big deal to middle-USA customers, but if you are on the west coast, it's a *****.

I waited about 3 months for the dealership to get my request delivered and thats because I refused to accept anything different. In the end, they wanted the sale more than I wanted to settle for something less than my exact preference.

Also try going through Costco or AAA. I found that the dealerships willing to work with Costco and AAA and lot more helpful than the random one down the street. As a matter of fact when I went to pick up my license plates from the dealership when they finally showed up, I had to drive about 45 minutes to the dealership....passing six (yes 6) other Toyota dealerships on the way.

You can get what you want, you just have to be patient.
