Best wiper blades >< ?

I typically don't say go OEM for many things. However, after having 3 toyotas I can honestly say that OEM blades are the best match.

On a side note this may be very well beyond Toyota. I manage a fleet of 8 ambulances and 3 utility vehicles. I've tried everything at one time or another, OEM seems to work the best; and the price isn't all that bad.

I've been a trico neoform guy for a while now but this last time I tried the 'Trico Tech Beam Blades' that just came out in late 2009. They are super beefy and they have a new off-set mounting that lets the wiper arms sit ever so slightly lower. They look and work great. Cost less than the neoforms. Easy install. Got them online.

I replaced the OEM's with RainX Latitudes. They were fine for a month or two and then stopped clearing the top 2-3 inches and on the passenger side left a swath about 4 inches wide in the middle uncleared.

I went back to OEM's and they are perfect. I had the Bosch Icons on our A6 and those were definitely the best wipers I've ever had. On my F250 the Icons did not work well.

I think the reason the RainX and Bosch have issues on the 4Runner and my truck is because the angle of the windshield is steeper and causes lift. On a windshield with a lesser angle like my A6 the design of those blades causes downforce and gives you a cleaner wipe.

At least that's what I think.

My OEMs lasted about 18 months I replaced both when I changed the oil to a wiper at Speedee oil change when I first came back to Alaska. The left wiper failed and they replaced it and since then no issues. will replace with OEM next Winter. The roads here are wet dirty and you know the rest.:violin:

Been using Bosch Icons for about a year now (my former Jeep). Uniform wipe for mist/heavy downpours/snow/ slush. Never had an issue with them. Can't say the same for the ANCO aerovantage wipers I was using for years. They seem to go bad after 8 months. Anyway, the ICONs are very expensive, but so far, I believe they are worth it.

I went to my local Toyota dealer for some new wiper blades back in the fall, and they sold me some Bosch Evolution wiper blades.

Once the cold/snowy weather hit, the plastic housing (the cover where the wiper meets the wiper arm) basically disintegrated. It was barely below 0 degrees Celcius. I was simply clearing snow from the windshield/hood area with a snow brush and pieces of plastic from the wiper blade started flying all over.

Fortunately the wiper stayed attached to the wiper arm and it still does "wipe."

I contacted Bosch about this apparent lack of durability, and under warranty they sent me a replacement set - still to be installed by me.

I swapped mine out for a set of OEM 2007-2009 Camry blades. Much cleaner look and no chattering in high wind/ heavy rain. The Drivers side is 25mm longer than the stock 4runner blade which helps too. About $60/pair but rerfills are readily available.
