Alright post up your opinions. I have to replace this set of revos in December and Ive narrowed it down to the BFG A/T KO or Dunlop Rover M/T Maxx both 265/70/17. Ive always been a fan of the BFGs but never had a set and I stumbled upon the Dunlops while browsing toyota120. I really like the tread pattern on the Dunlops and they fall in between an M/T and an A/T even though the tire says M/T. Ive read alot of good things about both tires. Since I know its going to be asked, I do more road driving than offroad, but when I do offroad I need a tire thats going to hold up, unlike my P rated Revos. I also need a tire that does well in snow and rain. What do you guys think?

Hey Thai. The BFG is 3 ply with 2 steel belts. I just read that this size isnt rated for severe snow. So one strike against BFG. The Dunlops are 10 ply which is way more than I need. So as of now they are both still tied.

Really out of 20+ views only Thai has an opinion on these tires????? Come on help me out here! Even if you dont know anything about their ply or how they ride you can atleast comment on which looks better.:thanks:

Im not sure about all the specs, and which one performs better, but i would have to say that the BFG's look 10 times better in my opinion

I've never ran dunlop truck tires before, but I have used those BFG's and I love them. When I replace my tires, that's what I'll buy.

10 ply are way to heavy and overkill .

Never owning the Donlops I would go with BFG since I am very familiar with them and are a great sturdy tire even in the C wt rating .

Actually, i believe that ALL BFG AT KO are severe weather rated. Do NOT rely on TireRack website. Go straight to BFG website and confirm the snowflake symbol. Last time i checked, all BFG AT KO are snowflake rated.

The tread plies is one thing. Sidewall strength is another. For example, the Dunlops may have 10 ply in the TREAD, but the sidewall is 2-ply. In rare cases, you can have 2-ply sidewall that is as strong as a 3-ply sidewall. However, the BFG AT KO are well-known for having a strong sidewall.

When looking for an off-road tire, i look more at the sidewall than the tread. I just make sure that the tire is LT-rated (load range C, D, E)...and then search for whichever tire has the stronger sidewall.

Personally, if you had a choice b/w the two and money is the same, then i would pick BFG. If money is a factor, then it is up to you.

Thanks for all the info and opinions, theyve been very helpful. Now all I have left is to make a decision.:ybrick:

I have not owned either tires, but I prefer the look of the BFG's. I am seriously considering them to replace my Dunlop Grandtreks. My concern is that the BFG's might be overkill with the LT rating and a 52 lb/tire weight in the 265/65/17 size. By comparison the Firestone destination AT's only weigh 38 lb/tire.

Go BFG I was so hesitant go get them because of noise, handling etc etc. I have been blown away with every part about them. They did not disappoint in one area. They handle and ride 10x better than the OEM's.

I am down to the Dunlop also and BF Goodrich. I REALLY like the look of the Dunlop but I have never owned a set so I don't know how loud and reliable they are.

I've read the T120 thread, they sound like a great choice. If that's what you want go for it! You won't be the 1st guy with E rated tires nor the last. There's no doubt the ride will suffer some but based on Lubedude's report I'd be tempted.

The only drawback or unintended consequence I see is availability. If by some chance you tear up a BFG you can get a replacement quickly and easily. I can see having to wait a couple of days for a replacement Dunlop to show up. If you are planning to get 5 then it's no big deal.

Given that you are out of the volunteer state, and that there are some fabulous places to take a rig off the road, not enough info is given on what you want to do with your setup. The BFG's do not give quite the grip as the dunlops but the BFG's have durablity. given the climate of east TN...I would probably go with the dunlops if they are cheaper and just use a good dose of caution when operating.
