BFG All Terrain T/A KO load range confusion

Hey all,

After spending a long time searching through forums and websites I have decided to purchase the BFG T/A KO's (I have cooper at/3's and they're terrible). It seems most people get 265/75/16 Load range C on these rigs. However, according to BFG's website that size tire is D rated only. I cannot find anywhere this sized tire that is C rated. Where or how did everyone running these get them C rated?

BFG discontinued the Load Range C version in the 265/75/16 variety. So you'll either have to go with Load Range D, or if you're set on Load Range C you'll have to switch to a different tire.

I liked the Load Range C AT/KO tires I'd been driving on since 1999.
When I bought AT/KO tires for my new '97 last summer, the (desirable)265/75/16 size was only available in load range E.....10-ply rating equivalent. Awfully stiff.
The stock 265/70/16 is load range D, so that's what I got. They're stiff enough.
I actually thought about switching the 4Runner to 15" rims so I could have the more compliant and comfortable-riding LR C tires, but elected not to spend the dough.

Thanks guys, too bad they don't make that combo anymore. How does the load range D ride? That seems like it would be a rough ride

BFG 265/75 AT/KO Load range E here. The ride is very firm but I love the tires.

D is fine for AT tires. C is actually rare. E is something I would stay away from just because the extra weight will have an effect.

Thanks for your input guys. I can get a load range D but in the 265/70/16, which I believe is a smaller diameter than the 265/75/16? It's a bummer these don't come in lower load ranges, these tires are wicked awesome. I have Cooper AT/3's and just to put in my .02 cents about them for everyone, 2 out of the 4 have been replaced already with less than 10,000 miles on them. They MUST be road forced balanced and even then you'll end up balancing them again on your next rotation. They look great and perform well, but do not seem to be a quality tire.

I had a set of 265/75-16 E load BFG's and personally found them way to stiff and heavy. Swapped them out for a set of Duratrac's in a C load and I've been super happy with them ever since.

I HATE my load E Pierelli's on my truck. I actually found a set of LL Duratrac's which I've never heard of. They're Light Load, so I think they might be P rated. Perfect for me, my truck is only off road when I fall asleep driving.

I have the BFG AT KO 265/75/LT16 The LT is a 3 ply vs 2 ply sidewall a little stiffer but it makes a HA-UUGHE Difference when airing WAY down to crawl out of a sand pit that you shouldn't have taken on because you knew full well it was nothing but sugar sand and you aren't locked yet.

The lack of C rated tires in 16" rims is another reason I decided to stay with 15" wheels on my Tacoma. C rated 33X10.5R15 BFG Mall terrains here.
