Big changes I should look for between an 03 - 09?

I guess my question is, If the mileage is good and the car is in good condition, what features/options should make me decide a specific year of 4runner?

That is true but, its was only covered under warranty for the first year and due to the recent recall they shaved the sides down to ensure that the driver didn't lose control mid warp (ruined the look of it and now is useless!). IMO

seriously, i like the 4th gen 05 down to 03 because of the square fender flares, it will look more agressive wid a lift. an the spoiler in o3-04 looks better than the hump in 05 an up. (my 9th can lol! over an outr

I'm sorry dude. Joke got out of hand. I would look for an 06+ since its after the refresh and you get some nice upgrades like protector head lights and led tail lights. Just keep looking and drive as many as possible to see what you like/dislike.

All 4x4 4th gens have Atrac. The 09 TE has a more "aggressive" version, similar to the FJ.

Take note that the 4th Gen Trail Edition is a white lion,..rare, and its only available in V6. Aside from the Off Road/Agressive version of ATRAC, and Bilstein shocks, the TE is the only 4th gen with the rear locker. Its hard to find a used TE nationwide, so were always back to the V6 vs V8 debate.
One thing, try to avoid a 4th gen with rear air suspension you'll have less upgradeability and expensive to replace as no aftermarket parts is available for it.
