Big problem!!!!!

Out of nowhere my rear hatch window in my 11 4runner started going down on its own today. No buttons pushed, the window locks were even on and the back hatch window kept going down like i was doing it with the window button.

I tried to unplug the wire on the hatch and i accedentally unplugged the hatch control and now i cant open my back hatch at all. It is stuck closed and now i cant open it to take the back panel off and disconnect the window power.

Anyone expierence this before or know i can open the back hatch without the hatch button in the rear exterior of the door?

I threw my coat in the back of my wife's Sienna, and happened to cover the latch there in the back. The mechanism jammed, and the door would not open or close or do anything.

After I got all the panels off (and broke two or three clips), all I could figure out was some limit switch didn't get hit before some polyswitch opened up.

After a while I figured out to remove the connector and hook up a DC power supply and use low voltage to slowly move the motor to the open position. Then I took my coat out, opened the door, hooked the connector up, and closed the door. Then it worked fine, and I put all the panels back. Think it was five hours total.

No idea if this applies.

My guess is something may have happened to the motor or window regulator mechanism and now the window moves down easily. I would pull the back panel and look at your motor/regulator, maybe a gear is stripped or the drive connection of the motor separated from the motor and is freewheeling.

I'd look for a mechanical reason first then check electrical.

I got the hatch opened thank you. Now i need to figure out the window issue

If the circuit works by applying a ground when the switch is pushed; then the window will operate if it gets a ground from somewhere else; like a chafed wire.

You can operate that window from the button or the key in the tailgate normally.

Check the wires in the rubber 'sock' between the rear door and truck body, seen it on lots of other vehicles where the wires rub with the constant opening closing of the door
