Biggest and best battery

I know this is an older post, but did you have to make any alterations to the tie down for the main battery or is it all the stock hardware? Looking to upgrade my 2 year old battery before installing a winch and light bar.

Also, is that the access for your winch in the plastic shroud thingy?

What's the purpose of a separate charger? I've used trickle chargers on motorcycle batteries in the winter when i wasn't riding but not sure i understand why you need one for the T4R?

The factory alternator is low output, so if you are running a fridge or anything you may not be able to fully recharge your battery. Running a battery not fully charged for an extended time causes sulfation wich damages th2 battery and shortens the life. A charger is to periodically make sure the battery is fully charged to prevent that,

"Quality product" hits the nail on the head. Japan and US both in general make quality products, China and Mexico does not. Personal experience: my $270 Craftsman String Trimmer is in the trash because of internal piston failure that is only replaced as an block assembly (can't buy rings or piston) after 11 month of ownership and was made in Mexico. One bad experience, I know, but more than enough for me.

you say the toyota alternator output is low. I have been monitoring my 2016 T4R and the voltage does stay low most all the time like 13.7 volts DC.
sometimes it will rise to 14.3volts but never seen it above that 14.3volt.

what are you seeing on your truck ?

my GM vehicles on cold start 14.75volts then slowly drops down to the 14.25 volt range but I never seen GM vehicles at the 13 range always 14volt .

I'd like to clean this up - what did you do to extend the connection? Looks like you just have a copper bar?

No no. It's bolted in there. Not going anywhere.

I bought the larger tray someone recommended from amazon and it went right in. However instead of nuts to screw on the posts - it came with these huge (tall) t-nut fitting things (you can see it in the picture on the top), and the hood wouldn't close with the front one on. I had to find my own nut.

The cables that extend the connectors aren't really a good fit. The positive side has more movement than I'd be comfortable with on an extended exp trip.

Was actually reading online about creating a bus bar from Cooper sheeting, cut or folded to fit my needs. Looks like that's what the poster on the first page with the picture of the super clean under hood area and north star battery has done.

To the existing captured nut? I have the same setup but the nut lines up with the rib in the tray. How did you bolt it?

I'm not sure I understand your scenario.

The posts that have a hook on the end - on the top side (towards driver), I'm using the factory hook and factory nut. On the bottom (closest to the headlight) I'm using the hooked post that comes with the tray kit.

The hook part on the post I have placed in the location that the factory hooked posts were hooked into.

Is the tray bolted to the fender? I need to bolt mine down but the existing threaded nut in the fender lines up in a bad spot. I'm curious how you bolted the tray.

I used the factory hook locations instead of the tray, but still want to bolt the tray so it can't rock on the fender (which is what caused some people to crack fenders when they tried to use the plastic tray)

I did not bolt the tray. The factory plastic one wasn't bolted so I figured this one didn't need to be. Guess I should!
