How I got involved in a 4Runner:
I sold my 1996 Chevy Impala ss with 101k in August 2012 in as clean as they come condition for 11,000$. I needed something newer and more useful since the impala was my car since I was 19. I spent blood sweat and tears keeping that thing clean-running and looking perfect and now to replace that I needed something to fill the void.

I test drove a handful of cars, trucks, and SUVs in my price range.. under 15000$ and nothing did it for me... I felt like I was holding a pretty high standard for being satisfied driving a vehicle. I wanted something that, holds value, is reliable, and has ample power. Something that gives you more than just the ability to drive around dry highways... which is what I dealt with for 7 years.
I drove a V8 05 4 runner.. and WAS SOLD... I did my research and this is what I ended up with.

August 10th, 2012:
2005 Toyota 4Runner Sport Edition V8 with XREAS, Silver,89k, I am the second owner, Zero Rust anywhere underneath, was garage kept.. dealer-maintained.. came with 1-year free maintenance, New tires, had the windshield replaced.

The minute I got it home 8/10/12:
Offroading: 12/1/18 ( Rausch Creek PA)

Got the Passenger side Slider welded up. Had to do more notching and adjusting of the square stock to get it to fit correctly but it came out good.

3/26/15 @ 110,000 miles

Yes it has been a very long while since Ive really done anything with my truck. Money has been tight and the winter was too cold here on LI for life. Started getting the spring itch today to work on my truck. been looking for a while now and found a perfect condition set of FJ 8 hole wheels. all tpms sensors work too.
They will be waiting to be fitted with 33's when I get to the lift hopefully sometime this year. Right now I have my sights set on the radflo 2.5 kit with camburg ball joint UCA's. Trying to do it right the first time.

Next purchase will be 4 piece Budbuilt skids hopefully sometime next month

Also awaiting warmer weather for install... serp belt, new laser iridium plugs, oil ,rear diff, transfer case and front diff fluid change.

And a fresh heavy duty detail cleaning.

Budbuilt Skid 4 piece combo for me and a buddy with an FJ arrived today..

Tomorrow's project-
- Remove stock skids
- Oil change
- Rear sway bar bushing upgrade to poly
- Grease everything
- re-clamp passenger cv outer boot


Prep for herculiner coating on skids

April 29th plan-
2 coats of herculiner on budbuilt skits
1 coat of herculiner as undercoating of truck
touch up rocksliders with left over.

april 30th plan-
Install skid plates

Changed original rear diff fluid to mobile 1 synthetic 75w-90
Drain plugs came out and went back easy. All looked good. Magnet had no visible signs of wear and tear.

Daystar 2.5/1.5 kit came in the mail and going in tomorrow!

Nice man, looking real good. I have a silver 08 and plan on going kinda the same route as you. Can't wait to see it with the lift. You plan on plasti dipping the fj wheels black too?
