Looking to pick up these tires for my 5th gen with TRD wheels.
- Any rubbing issues?
- How does the fitment compare to your previous tires?
- Do you feel that a regear is necessary now that the tire height is ~35"?

After about 6 months of patiently waiting,
I was able to pick up my Detours of Maine tire carrier in person from the man himself and saved on shipping last time I went up to Maine.

The thing is solid!

Comes primed.. I painted with steel it paint about 4 coats. Needs a little adjusting but it fits nice and looks great imo.

The best part is getting my trunk space back after about 10 years of running with an oversized spare back there.

I realized it's been over a year since I posted in this..

The truck is still running great. Just about 169k

Annual full fluid film treatment done recently

Drove her up north to Maine to get around during the winter months.
If anyone is looking for a place to Vaca and loves the winter, I highly recommend it!

After about 13 years of perfect reliability, she finally had a breakdown.

The Starter died while out running errands. Luckily only a few blocks from home.

The drive pinion broke off from the starter, it never fell into the flywheel so nothing exploded.

New starter installed and is on its way back together.
2 connectors got brittle and have to be replaced in the process .

New CV axles going in next week with new seals.

Well,

After 13 years and 100k miles, the time came to finally move on.

I want to say a HUGE thank you to this forum and the inspirational builds that helped along the way.

The 4Runner was sold to a former forum member whom I met through here.

Thanks for all the knowledge and the memories made through this forum!

Nothing yet, the wife and I dropped down to sharing 1 vehicle for the time being. Her lease, a 2023 Rav4 Prime is up in a few months and then I will be shopping a replacement.

Unfortunately, nothing Toyota is offering has really impressed me enough to justify the ridiculous cost of what they are these days. Dont get me wrong its all nice, but not making me want to mortgage a vehicle nice lol.

That said, we are planning on upsizing to something full size, I was looking at the Sequoias but the cargo space is stupid, actually better off back in a 4Runner at that point. The new 4runner is nice but doesnt blow me away for the costs and what it is.. so we will see what everything looks like when we get closer to that point around the end of November.

In my consideration list is finding the best 200 series I can afford. we will see

What did you move on to?

After tons of research and test drives, and narrowing down exactly what I want/need from a vehicle for my circumstances, I ended up getting into a 2025 Ford Expedition Tremor.

Thing is a beast, and the technology in it is pretty overwhelming coming from the 4runner. Some people hate that some love it. Im into that so its fine for me.

The comfort level of this thing is off the charts in my opinion. The seats are fantastic and the stereo is one of the best factory systems ive ever heard.

I do wish toyota didnt screw up the newest generation with their sizeing and drivetrain choices. I would of liked the new Sequoia but the cargo room was horrific.


Is it as refined as the good-quality Toyota product? Probably not. Its certainly going to have to earn my trust with all that it has going on. But it does what I need it to do and does it well.

The Tremor is mostly a work vehicle for running through the North Woods of Maine. If anyone is looking for a great spot to explore and vacation check us out Vacation Home Rentals Around Moosehead Lake Maine

Trusting a Ford was not on my list of things I ever thought I would do. So I also hope it works out. lol
