They (Toytec) most likely do have good testing and feedback of everything they sell. Yeah, they're not saying it won't work. Maybe their coil is a better choice, resulting in a better ride?
But if someone said they're going to run OME shocks/struts with our coils, or our Dobinsons shocks/struts with OME coils, I'd probably recommend against it for a few reasons.
1. We don't know what it will ride like.
2. We know what lift heights and results our full products will give.
3. Yeah, they were never tested together. If you run a heavier/firmer coil, you may have softer shock valving. Or the other way around too. So mixing and matching could yield a "not very nice ride" at the end of the day.
We had a local guy running our 6" 80 series complete lift with resi shocks, and he insisted on changing out our reservoir shocks for some Fox shocks, based on someone's advice. The ride completely changed and he wasn't satisfied at all anymore. He had already sold the Dobinsons MRR shocks though, so he was out of luck.
I know that some OME coils are tapered and turned different to stock to work with their struts (200 series Land Cruiser for example), so OME generally doesn't advise using their coils on other brands of shocks or struts.
I think this is also why so many people ask for full specs before purchasing these days so they can figure things out for themselves and guesstimate the end results.
