Bilstein 5100 / Tundra TRD / OME 890 Review

How are you guys installing the tundra 5100 rear shocks? The shocks have a bushing installed on the bottom that is to small to fit over the mount. Did you get a new bushing somewhere? If so, where?

Also, where did you get the new front shock isolator for the TRD coils?

There is a bushing kit you need to order, the most cost effective way I found to get it was to go to my local Auto Zone and have them order it for in-store pick-up, no shipping this way and it was $5 I think for the kit (2 bushings). I ordered a Black Energy Suspension brand kit but they have a red one as well.

Hey everyone, finally got around to installing our our lift.

Front:
Bilstein 5100s
TRD Tundra springs

Rear:
Bilstein 5100s
OME 890 springs

We didn't take any measurements but we are really happy with the amount of lift it provided with minimal rake. Just to clear up with issue with people having stiffness / firm issues with the 890s in the rear -- the truck rides like a dream, perfect comfort level, feels like a brand new truck as our old shocks were worn and couldn't absorb bumps at all. Currently the front sway bar is still disconnected as we need longer end links but we are enjoying the flex and ride right now.

I just ordered this setup for my 97 ltd. Will I also need longer end links? I'm having the fronts setup for the 2nd perch. If I stick to paved streets for the next few months, will I still need a diff drop right away? The parts and install costs for this lift will be pretty hefty and would like to push any more mods a few months out to spread out expenses.

There's no need for longer links in front.

Diff drop is a joke. All it does is rotate the front diff a bit. You don't get the amount of drop that the shims are, whatever that measurement is.

On the Tundra 5100 rear bilsteins, the link for the model number shows a 0-1" lift? I am leaning towards the OME 890's that are about 2.75-3" of lift. Will these work or is there a different model number?

I bought these from ToyTec to go with my rear OME coils. Think I have the OME 906's......

im a noob here. I have a 96 and have been looking at the 5100, my question is what rear shocks are you using? also what upper strut mount are you using on the front?

and what has total cost been with the emu rear springs?

Sorry didn't know they had two different Bilstein 4Runner rear shocks these are what I have......

Would you guys recommend replacing these clamps before installing the lift? Also, do I just need to replace the lower (smaller diameter) clamps and leave the larger OEM clamps on?

Found these at amazon for a few bucks cheaper:

Do the lift and take it for a little 4wd romp then check the boots. Replace which ever ones pull away. I believe only a small one on the driver's side leaked on mine but I think I've seen some pictures of guys that had the larger diameter side leak. Just keep an eye on them for a while after the lift.
