What is the max caster some of you have been getting with the stock UCA under these conditions?

1" lift with the TRD red springs that come in the kit?

2" lift with spacers or different coil?

I debating whether or not to get aftermarket UCA.

Hey guys. I got this from Franks Motors. It is the FJ version of the 4R instructions that are floating around on here. It contains full instructions for disassembly/reassembly of the shocks.

Perhaps this is why this kit is discounted? The 4R and new FJ kit appear to come fully assembled.

Sorry if it's a double post, I did doze off in the middle of the 60 pages of this thread...

I wouldn't bother unless you have a ton of miles on your current top hats. I, like you, initially wanted to have the struts assembled prior to install, but after doing the no compressor method on the front with a floor jack, I am glad I didn't do it. Watch the video posted in the thread of the OME install on the Tacoma and go for it. This was one of the easier suspension installs I have done. I did it by myself with just hand tools. I didnt' fire up the air compressor once. Use the TRD 4R instructions for the rear and for torque specs.

I fall into the first category. 1" lift. After install my Caster is 3.2 and 3.6. I don't know if this is "max" or not, but seems pretty good. I didn't ask the alignment tech to max it out. just go for a factory spec and that is what I ended up with. FWIW - He said it was easy.

That’s awesome.

I’m still debating whether or not to go for additional lift with different springs or keep it original with TRD springs.

Got my kit installed today; I have KDSS and 265 KO2s.

Measurements before:

FL 34 1/8
FR 34 2/8
RL 36 5/8
RR 37

Measurements after:

FL 35 2/8
FR 35 2/8
RL 36 5/8

Overall I am extremely impressed with this setup. As I have little kids, I did not want a big lift right now. Body roll much improved and nose-dive is pretty much gone. Feels great!

What is "shocking" is that Toyota didn't put these on to begin with. The nose-dive and body roll (to a lesser extent) on the stock shocks was unacceptable. The improvement from these shocks makes a night and day difference.

Toyota don't care as long as we keep buying their 2002+ 4runners. Noticed I said 2002. It's the same fricking chassis suspension brakes bla bla bla bla bla engine. Consumers are buying up any 4runner that Toyota poops out.

So I ended up ordering this Kit online and gave them a VIN (thank you craigslist) and it should be arriving tomorrow.

Cost me right below $600 shipped. :tea:

I would like a little bit more of a light and have heard good and bad things about spacers so I'd rather buy springs.

I know Dobinsons has a lot of options for different weight springs and some are mentioning Eibach too.

Can someone please link a set of springs that will work with this kit to give me a higher lift.

Preferred lift is 1.75 rear and 2.5 front
or
2 rear and 2.5 front

I completely agree. I mentioned this to Toyota in my survey about the car. Most likely wont make any difference, but at least they reached out to thank me for my input via phone and email.

From what i have researched and have not found is a front coil to lift the Runner enough. I had mine installed last week with a 2 inch spacer in the front and Dobinson's 2" rear 329 springs in the back to get my 3" front and 2" rear. Until Dobinson's comes out with the 2 inch front lift coil, that what I have to run.

That might not be a bad temporary solution. Did you upgrade your UCA? Alignment?

Just for reference so if anyone is looking to do further mods... After installing this kit I went ahead got some new wheels. I got ATX AX202 Bronze, 17x9", -12mm offset, 4.53 backspace with OEM size tires Coopers 265/70-17 (just because I have 80% tread left from my oem wheels). As an FYI I got minor rubbing at full lock on reverse. Nothing a heat gun couldn't fix. I was hoping to get wider 275's or 285's but looks like I'll need to add a little bit more lift when I decide to.
