Do you mean when going over bumps? Normal driving? Certain speed?

I hear it the most when reversing out of a parking spot, but yes going over bumps too.

I think based on what you say, I will go with T13 in the back with no front preload/spacers to retain the rake and prevent reverse rake when trunk is loaded. Thought?

I say that’ll be to much front rake imo. You can just install the kit alone with no additional front or rear height adjustment, you’ll be just about level.

Mine is installed with about 50 miles on it so far... night and day.

I would say from my first 50 miles you feel more of the little road imperfections but the larger bumps and imperfections in the road just get eaten right up. Again I have just 50 miles on it but couldn’t be happier!

Waiting till I get her washed up on the morning for some pictures, I installed just the kit, no additional spacers or springs in the rear.

It is a much stiffer ride, actually feels like it can take a corner without all the excess body roll which is just an amazing difference.

If you are on the fence like I was when the first post in this thread was made, stop waiting, just pull the trigger and you won’t be upset about it at all! I waited too long without this and only have 3k miles on mine...

Here is my $.02 on it, it’s TRD suspension, you can buy it from Toyota.... I personally don’t feel it would void any warranty which is why I decided on this kit vs. any other one (I also didn’t need any type lift). The kit also has a 12 month warranty on it so you should be fine IMO.

But its an FJ part number not 4Runner.

Apparently I have a bad lower control arm bushing that I want toyota to replace under warranty, but I am debating on putting in the old suspension before taking it in

I would guess unless Toyota installed the kit for you it would not be covered.

How much are you guys paying for the install? Local dealer wants 764.00 local mom and pop shop wants 500.00 both include alignment .

eBay is best bet plus it’s a Toyota dealer , ordered mine Friday will be here Monday. Would like to see before and after pix . I’m on the fence of doing install with a friend or just pay $426 with alignment and not worry or struggle with it .

Good point, then it really depends on the dealership. I’ve had several tuned VWs in the last and had problems with one yet everything was covered under warranty, the dealership was pretty cool about it.

My local dealer where I got my truck from confirmed they wouldn’t have an issue with warranty work with TRD suspension on it.

The kit that is on sale is from the FJ cruiser. Fits 4Runner, 600lb front spring that is approx 1" taller so will level front end or help lift all around with new rear coil or spacer.

I'm really looking forward to the pics. Thanks to this thread I just ordered the kit for my 2018 TRD that has 400 miles on it. I was just going to do the 5100's but this was too good.

Now I can't decide if I want to install as you did with nothing else or add spacers/springs to get another inch overall. I have ready all the reasons to go either way, just need to decide how off road looking I want to be.

So, I finally was able to order SCS ray10s, which was the last piece before I have the suspension installed.

However...now I went ahead and splurged and got a SSO slimline with a smittybilt winch. That adds about 110#s over stock to the front.

I already have installed a FULL RCI skid Aluminum package (including fuel, lower link, aarm skids), and Steel RSG sliders.

The suspension parts that have already arrived are:
FJ TRD Pro kit (1.25" lift (I think) with perch settings on the higher setting)
Toytec TOP1-T - Front Top Plate Spacer Kit (3/4" lift front)
Dobinsons C59-505 rear coil (1.5" rear lift)
Toytec 150PR10 - OME FJ rear trim spacer 10mm (to fix lean)


I believe the FJ 6112 is a 14" long, 3" diameter 600# spring.

Question:
Now...do I need a 650# or 700# front springs to handle the new bumper/winch? I believe eibach and kings make them like here ->

I think around...$180-$200 a set.

Any suggestions here? Are there other things I have to worry about like ...the springs needing to have a flat side for the 6112 or not working with the 6112 or the eibach and kings coilover springs would fit no problem?

Edit: And...is going from a 600# to a 650# spring going to really make that big of a difference for almost $200?

Here is my 2011 SR5. Kit with perches where they came. Front I added the cornfed 3/4” (3/8) top plate spacer and rear T-13 springs with 10 mm OME packer on drivers side. I’m within 1/4” left to right and have about 1 3/8” rake still.

Was overcast all weekend so pictures aren’t the best, I’ll post better when my Ray10’s get put on.

Love the ride so far, not what I’d describe as harsh at all, just way more composed in all aspects. Install time with me and a friend was an hour per side front and about 45 minutes per side rear. Only hiccup was I ordered new top hats and extended studs from wheeler, but 2 of the studs ended up spinning in the top hat so ended up reusing the old hats.
