Bin Laden finally dead!!!!

The fact that Pakistan govt was not informed of the raid 30 miles north of their capital, and the fact that there was a multitude of jet fighters circling 120 miles away on the Afghan side, means that Obama was willing to go FULL TILT in this raid, i.e. willingness to take on Pakistani Air Force and Army should they decided to intervene. I read that there was a full flight of USAF para-rescue squadron in Pakistan also in case **** hits the fan.
I have to think being next to Pakistan's Military Acadamy, heck, they had to know. Or least someone had to know. If we were good allies, we could say, hey right outside your base is Osma, take one tank and get him.

Some have theorized that Paksitan govt knew about Osama, but kept quiet so that they can keep receiving billions of dollars from US to remain our ally. And from this raid, it is clear that the US does not trust Pakistan govt.

Obama watching the plan go down.

...you can't give a vague credit to the 'troops', 99.9999% of which did not take part in this operation either.
Obama has more to do with this kind of thing than you might think. You would be surprised what level he works at sometimes.

there are roughly a quarter of a million troops in the middle east. whether they participated in this operation or not, they see and do things every day that nobody should have to. you would be surprised at what level they work at sometimes.

three years ago the national debt was roughly ten trillion dollars. today it's nearly fifteen trillion dollars. trillion. dollars. that's a lot of change.

i'm not saying obama doesn't deserve credit. he did indeed play a role in this operation, and although i don't like him, his speech last night was damn good. however, he's only been president for three years. some troops are on their third or fourth tours.

I agree there is something fishy there.

My question is, why does this news cast say on the banner in the beginning that Osama was killed last week?? Ignore the fact that the anchor says obama is dead.

Thanking Obama for the death of Bin Laden is like thanking Ronald McDonald
when you get an extra cheeseburger in your bag. It's the guy at the counter
you should thank, not the clown on the TV!!!

Let's be clear on this: OBAMA did NOT kill Bin Laden. An American GI, who Obama just a few weeks ago was debating on whether or not to PAY, did. Obama just happened to be the one in office when our military finally found OBL and took him out. This is NOT an Obama victory, but an AMERICAN victory!!

right, and osama bin laden doesn't get any credit for his troops flying planes into the world trade centers. So why did we kill him again? Obama made a gutsy call. This had a higher likely hood of turning out bad than it did good. Imagine if we had went in there and shot up the place and there was no bin laden.... It's amazing how much people despise our president. They are willing to blame him for an economic crisis that he inherited stemming from a decade of deregulation but they don't want to give him ANY credit for making an executive decision to kill public enemy #1. :bash:

He inherited 10 trillion in debt, that hardly excuses the now 15 trillion in debt. Liberals should man up and stop blaming Bush already for their sucky ass clown president.

Also, no one celebrated Nixon when man walked on the moon, because that goal was started with JFK.

Actually it goes back to Reagan when the deregulation started to snowball so Obama inherited 25 years of problems but deregulating banks early in the decade and the banks giving people outrageous loans on houses they couldn't afford was a major blow along with the wasted men and resources in Iraq has led to where we are at now.

Obama hasn't really improessed me with the economy and healthcare issues but I doubt that McCain would have this country in any better shape like a lot of right wingers tend to think.
McCain couldn't even manage a compentent campaign, imagine how he would be doing with the country.

If the Republicans can't get someone realistic (if Trump's a fore4runner then just give Obama another 4 years right now) and has a real plan for the country then Obama will easily win again.

I sure hope those who whine the most and loudest got off their butt and voted in '08 or shouldn't be complaining now.

Bush was also a sucky ass clown president along with the republican party becoming so corrupt had a hand in Obama winning the election since people tired of Republican arrogance in office and then there was the scandals which further derailed their party. Bush also holds the noteriety of having the worst approval rating in history. I think Bush's problem was he listened to much to Cheney and Rumsfeld who also had a hand in things degrading over the decade.

Comparing a moonwalk to a deadly military mission which risked alot of lives is a stretch. Obama had to make a decision which could have failed and if it had and US soldiers died,no Bin Laden found and ended up in a major coflict with Pakistan then this forum would be blaming Obama for eveything up and down and sideways so what he did was a gutsy call period.

I'm not talking about debt. I'm talking about the situation in general. The economic crisis really didn't have anything to do with debt. In fact Cheney said deficits don't really matter (not that I agree with this). Bush wasn't even including the wars in the budget either which are a huge part of the money going OUT. Obama has done that in an effort to be more REAL about the budget and our nations debt.

Libya anyone?

Not happy about that but any president would've intervened if innocent civilians are simply being killed and it's making world news;we have a history of butting in so it's not exclusive to this administration. IMO we should leave the middle east period and let them fight it out and start taking care of things at home.

Well, you're saying that Iran, Korea, etc. are not killing their own people on a daily basis? Did we bomb Egypt? In other words, Obama attacked Libya with far less reason than Bush had with Iraq at the time. What exactly are we doing in Libya...with our economy and debt mounting?? Don't be misled by the "joint" effort, US is spending the majority of money in Libya!

Wait...with the Republican gaining in Congress...does that make Obama (and Democrats) the new ass clown?? Based on your logic...just wondering.

Scandals? Geez, Democrats have no scandals at all...Clinton anyone? :redbrick:

Worst approval rating? Obama ratings are not exactly that far higher than Bush!!

Come on, RonM...you're making this too easy!

I am just so happy that we don't have to deal with Gitmo anymore!! Woohoo. Oh wait, cross that out. Well, i am so damn happy that we don't have yet another conflict to deal with in the Middle East! Woohoo. Oh wait, cross that out.

So, remind me, what exactly has Obama done to EARN the Nobel Peace price?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Now, as noted earlier in the thread, i have gained a new level of respect for Obama after what he did to get Osama. Even if he did not pull the trigger, he made the ballsy decision to get it done at all cost. THAT IS WHAT EARNED MY RESPECT. Hey, President Clinton focked up plenty with failed military compaigns...so, Obama at least has more balls than Clinton ever had. (Of course, we all know that Hiliary holds the balls in the house...so, no wonder!)

I think that Obama is finally maturing (as a President) and realizing that you can't run the country like what he "envisioned" when he was running for President and talking out of his arse! He knows that a country cannot be run by favoring one party. You do what is best for the country.

My critiques don't/shouldn't suggest Bush was a winner, just that the excuse that Obama sucks because Bush did is a sad and tired one.

Plus Obama hasn't paid my mortgage or filled up my tank yet, which leaves me a little salty.
