Black soot on exhaust tip. What does it mean?

Winter driving over here. Is my fuel to air mixture too rich? Lead foot? Improperly installed exhaust tip? Does anyone else have this?

Yep, just means its been a while since you cleaned it..

I have the same tip on my 2016. same soot . I now have 5K miles on my vehicle. no codes 18-20 MPG ..

I understand your concerns . on my old GM vehicles NO SOOT ..

I recommend finding an muffler shop that can route the exhaust to the side. What's on your tip gets sucked in inside the cab when you drive with the hatch down. You'll notice all kinds of dirt on your cargo area and headliner due to that. It cost me $35 to get mine done.

Use some #0000 steel wool and soapy water it will clean it right up. I do this every time I wash my Audi

Its 100% normal.

Toyota does tend to run a little on the rich conservative side in open loop (which is when most of this happens). In normal driving conditions/closed loop (not WOT, and after warm up..) The AF ratio should always be just about perfect due to O2 sensor feedback.
