Blacked Out Headlights Installed

as for me i bought a pair of depos off ebay for about 150 and surprisingly they look very nice. definatly an easier way out, as i didnt want to take the chance of ruining a pair of headlights again.... not as nice as the ones posted above, but for the price these lights actaully look a lot nicer than i expected. they arent projector style, but still look sick IMO

I use a satin black. I put a bead of clear silicone around the lens and the housing before i put them back in the oven. I try and get good run-off of the slicone when i squish them back together. No problems with them here in AZ...It does get cold....but not for long so no real cold testing...LOL

Cool. Thanks for the answer. But, there is a big difference between Seattle winters(growing up there 15 years) and even Sacto/South Lake Tahoe winters than AZ. I know you get those monsoons, but the heat dissipates the fog/condensation.

But I'll tell ya...they look awesome. What's your turnaround usually? I just bought a BRAND NEW 08 and would prefer to have my brand new lights done than getting some 06-07 lights that may have pits. I plan to go the Excel route as to avoid the gravel from trips up to Tahoe.

Also, have you tried any kind of "black chrome" or would that be too difficult to do? Just trying to keep the theme going.

I really need to get the DRL's turned off tho. I didn't realize they were two different bulbs for turn signals and DRL's. I'm the noob!

dheeter, since the brights lenses are blacked out, how drastically has it reduced your visibility when using them compared to stock?

its an illusion. once you take the lights apart you only paint the trim piece. the actual light covers are not affected

yea, i do believe youre correct Chaz. By the way, im holdin off on the skid plate BECAUSE the stupid supplier who was gonna do all the bends and holes for me decided it would cost me $135 plus shipping. I think not haha... Gonna go to a friend who build his jeep from the ground up and see what he thinks about the idea. But anyways, so it's really as easy as remove(not that easy apparently), heat, paint, heat, connect, replace? that's amazing

wow that looks real nice man... What did you do to get it black? U used tints to cover up the headlight?
