Really? I don't disassemble the whole assembly, but i just pull the drum off and leave all the springs, retainers, and nuts and bolts in. Just spray it down with brake cleaner and brush with a nylon brush or a toothbrush!

Yeah I just figured if you were getting that burning smell it might just be from the rear drums sticking, therefore you could just loosen them up a little. of course your method is way easier than disassembling hahaha. I could have done that last time but I remembered I took the drums off to pull the axle and I replaced the drums anyway lol so yeah I guess you don't need to disassemble the drum. I was over-thinking it.

Yea dude, the shoes are just a mess and a headache to deal with. I got around 55-60 cruising today on city streets on the way home from school, no smell. Getting on the freeway later to go to costco: hopefully the verdict is the same :l

Nice build so far man! How are you liking the ride of the coils so far? I've read a lot of people's opinions on here and still kinda in the middle. I'm looking at trying to get some sort of lift under mine pretty soon, and I like the look of yours just don't want it to be a completely stiff ride as this is my dd.

Stiff is so subjective its really hard to tell. I like the ride of my truck a lot haha. They are a stiffer than a cadillac ride but they are good. Most of the streets i drive on are pretty smooth so that makes my ride fairly smooth, but i do notice if im driving over a crap street it will translate through the truck. It reduces body roll a bunch (dont take turns at 40 mph though), and feels way more solid now then it did before.

Haha I gotcha...I wasn't expecting Cadillac style but just wasn't sure how much it changed it from the stock feel. I think I will probably end up going this way, as opposed to just getting the 2.5" spacers.
How much of a pain is it to get the dash off to put the LED's behind the gauges?

Its fairly straight forward, there was a write up not too long ago with all the needed pictures. Just be careful when pulling the center console piece because the tabs (upper and upper right) are pretty brittle and can break fairly easily like mine did. And be sure to follow Ripcord's chart since the bulbs vary by year and trim.

Wow man this is the first time I looked through your thread. You did a great job with the detailing interior and exterior. Very tasteful mods so far (I'm on page 2 lol) and it looks great.

Been doing a few things. Retrofit, tinted corners and blinkers, a few stickers. Will post tonight probably.

Finally putting it to work, sort of:
Bought two freezers, one for me and one for a roommate (raw feeding dogs)
Got all my projector stuff in from ambiguous from tacoma world, very helpful.
3" fxr 3.0, 35w ballasts and bulbs (5k), long cord etc, etc.
I ordered a set of ebay headlights and found out they were TYC so i ordered from rockauto and returned the ebay lights afterwards: heres the comparison: the TYC is the one with the tan colored backing plastic (left)
I have a feeling any would do fine, but TYC is more widely used/trusted then eagle eyes so whatever.
I painted the reflector housing black, and wanted to do the same with the corner lights. I forgot i put the damn corners in the oven so i had to order new corners, and clear were the cheapest.
Aimed these suckers the way [MENTION=63060]rickashay[/MENTION] posted how to (i think it was him)
since my center beam was 38" from the floor, i aimed the beam 35" from the floor at 25 ft.

I felt the clear corners and amber turn signals needed some continuity with the headlights, so i tinted those with nightshade. I went way too dark, going to need to take off the nightshade and do them again when its hot (more even spray).

It looks like there is light leakage behind the projector, but its just the way the projectors' lens are curved.
A few stickers on the rear wind deflector thing, parked next to my dads 4runner..
some notes:
nightshade is ridiculous dark stuff. i went with about 3-4 coats because i got carried away. i originally intended for only 2 light light coats. Im thinking ill take it off and find some krylon glass stain in yellow for the amber effect: in both the parking lights and the turn signals.
I plan on plastidipping the front bumper/rear/body cladding: any opinions on the black and white?
Also planning on painting my wheels duplicolor graphite.
A few good coats of black plastidip (cheapest and available), and then the duplicolor graphite followed by a gloss clearcoat). I want the plastidip as the base coat so i can remove it if i dont like it.
To end here are a few shots of the truck, my sister was driving it as i was driving our other family car behind her.

Did a mod to my parking and signal lights..
Parking lights now consists of original parking lights with the addition of the signal lights (like the 4th and 5th gens): i use them as DRL now
Signalling blinks the parking + signal lights together. Just fast (anyone know how to fix this?)
Hazards: parking and signals flash under normal speeds as shown in the video.

using a SPDT RELAY and several feet of 16 gauge stranded wiring and a bunch of various connectors.

You've clean that up nice man. My suggestion is paint the grill white to match, and get the cladding/ bumper resprayed the same or maybe a little darker, I think it would flow nicely. Keep up the work!

A white grill would look excellent. I may do that considering i have a small can of "color matched" natural white left over from touching up the roof.. Thanks for that suggestion !

Lol, next time im at my schools gym at night ill be sure to take a wall shot. Can't believe there are no good walls near my apt lol. i decided against putting in amber lights in my housing becaues the led strips i got were pretty cruddy looking, and i thought of doing this light mod.
Antman? I got my order through with ambiguous, yea hes an authorized seller for TRS, he does a bunch of tacoma retrofits.

My roommate trolls hidplanet all day and he was suggesting a bunch of stuff to do to my truck, metioning that "i bet you wish you had 4wd so you could wheel in some snow! i was looking at a few 4runner pictures earlier of a guy in the snow with the sicka$$ grill, you should do it too bro!!" lol. obviously he was mentioning your pictures.

Probably tomorrow night, got a final to study for tonight! I really want to, gotta call a few wrecking yards to see how much an older style grill is, dont really feel like doing much bondo stuff to my current grill.

I think you should get a bug shield for the hood. Your lights and grill are black but nothing else. A LUND shield would look great and blend visually. I bought mine on Amazon for $77.
