blower motor trouble

Hey all.

The blower in my 98 SR5 has stopped working. I went out to start it this morning to drive to class and I didn't have any heat, but the heater under the passenger seat was working fine.

I flipped the switch for AC to see if the fuse was bad, I think it's fine after checking the "heater" 40A fuse under the hood. The connections underneath the blower motor in the cab are fine, they're secure and not loose at all.

So I'm wondering what you all think. We recently had a cold spell and I'm sure that was playing a part, with temps that got down to about -37 degrees F wind chill.

Ideas?

set the fan to high, and reach under the dash and tap on the blower motor.
its likely bad, and needs replaced.
sometimes you can squeeze a little more time out of them this way.

but, be careful to always turn the switch off, if its not spinning it may overheat and start a fire.
