Bluetooth pairing issue

Hey guys, I've been reading through A LOT of different references and threads regarding bluetooth issues, and I'm just not seeing my issue.

So my question:

I have no problems going through the pairing process, naming the phone etc. But once I have the phone paired and I attempt to stream my Pandora via the "Bluetooth audio" under Aux... I get like a millisecond blip of the song and then it cuts out immediately. Phone stays paired but the audio just stops almost immediately. Kind of weird, and super annoying cuz I was really hoping I could stream my stuff :-/

Thoughts? I've been seeing this "Entune" reference around the web, but I imagine thats the fancier touch screen infotainment system. Mine is the basic radio/console option without the touchscreen. Is there possibly software upgrades on those as well that may be needed to be able to sync to the newer profile versions of bluetooth?

I had this issue. Do a hard restart of your phone. I have an iPhone so I held down the power and home button for roughly 10 seconds. It keeps all of your settings and apps etc...just restarts your iPhone. After I did this I was able to stream perfectly. No issues. if that doesn't fix the problem then I suggest plugging your phone into the USB port and play music through that as a temporary solution. This is what I have started to do since I can charge my phone and play music simultaneously.

Appreciate the input, I'll give it another shot tonight and see what comes of it. I'm with ya on that, if this doesn't sync this way again, I'm just gonna grab my USB wire for now and try going that route. I was so bummed when it wouldn't sync lol.
 
Well I got it to pair!!!!

Wanna know how? Ummmm no F#cking idea! ha... smh

I just paired it like normal, didn't work didn't work, didn't work... Then all of the sudden WAM just out of nowhere just paired ha.. WTF

No, I don't have a man-crush....I have a lot of faults but that's not one of 'em...

Is that true? I'm looking at getting a new Galaxy S6 to replace my iPhone just so entune would work with my phone without being plugged in. I have a 2012 4R..

That's no good if that's true.

I had that problem. Fixed it by loading a different custom rom onto my phone with the updated 5.1 then everthing worked no issue. Also you should be able to update entune via the entune app through your mobile data in settings somewhere.

I have a Oneplus One and I got entune working by updating to the latest version of Android 5.1. I had the same audio dip problem as the OP and after updating got everything working. Only downside with the androids is you cant browse your music from the BT interface which is why I bought a large USB drive to put most of my music on there as the USB stick only will recognize 9999 songs total.
 
Update......

It's not working again!!!!! :redbrick: WTF is this bullshit.

Most annoying part is that the phone seems to work fine for calls, and I even streamed freaking audio from a movie via "Showbox" JUST FINE through the damn stereo. So go figure the ONE thing I want to work being Pandora.... DOESN'T!

REALLY CHAPS MY A$$ :rolleyes: ------ Looks like a stupid aux input cable will be the method smh
 
My Verizon/Motorola Droid Turbo with Android OS 5.1 Lollipop pairs with my 2013 Toyota 4Runner Trail Edition with the NAV console.

To get the web stuff to work, I had to do something to make sure Entune starts every time I restart my phone, I think it was the app Llama.

Pairing for hands free doesn't require the Entune app to be running on your smart phone.

I don't use Pandora but I could check it out. Are you using Pandora on the console or Pandora on your phone?

I can't hook up my smart phone to the USB connection, it tries to draw too much current for charging and the NAV system b!tches about it.

Don't forget you could just go 'analog' and get a cable that goes from your headphone jack to the Aux input, then use your phone as the controller.

I have my iPhone working wirelessly with the Entune apps that need a data connection. Weather, stocks, traffic is connecting fine to the phone without using the cable.
 
Just to make sure everyone is on the same page.....

I'm not running the entune/Nav console setup.

This is happening on the base console without nav/touch. Pandora so far has been the only thing that hasn't been streaming through.

I'm running Galaxy S5/Android. Literally the pandora decided to work for a bit last night in the truck randomly then I got back in later and didn't work at all again ha!

God forbid a simple transmission method like bluetooth should work ha.

Man I certainly don't have a clue about BT , have the samsung mini3 , took me 4 times to pr up & no idea how or why it finally worked just got pissed & kept doing it till it did ! Sorry I can't be more help ! Also have none of that fancy entune or navi stuff . Hardest part was being fast enough to get my password in before prompts moved . Both ph & audio paired IDFK

I'm on the same page with you here... Check out the thread I made (http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/201124-aftermarket-head-unit-2.html).

Dropping mine off at the dealer tomorrow at lunch. I am on the 3rd head unit in this damn thing... My patience is wearing thin. I'll let you know what they say.
 
I posted this in my thread already, but FYI..


So I took it down there and of course no one knew anything about what was going on... even after the corporate guy called and talked to the service manager...

So that's a great start.. telling my story to 5 different people. Then I show them what happens when the Bluetooth drops the S5. The service guy goes and gets his iPhone which happens to work fine.. of course. Then he's saying how it's deffinitely the phones and how the head unit doesn't have a software upgrade out. I told him I find it hard to believe that other people have the same phones and same setup and don't have any problems at all and that I'm not going to buy a $600 phone to make something work that should already be working.

So they say that there's really nothing they can do and that they will call the tech support line and ask questions. So 20-30 minute drive both ways for absolutely nothing.
 
Any update on this topic? I am process of purchasing a used or new 4Runner. Today I ran into this problem on a 2013 limited and the sales team could not get it to work. They said there is a site to contact "only for owners". The dealer could not contact them or it would cost money. Sounded fishy.

If this problem is not something that has a fix, well I might have to look at something else. At a minimum, I will be looking for a new dealer.
