Body lift=bigger tires?

I was wondering if I installed a 1" body lift from ToyTecLifts.com, would that give me enough room to fit 285 or 295/75/16 tires without any rubbing at all. I have 265/70/16 tires right now and it seems like I have plenty of room, but you guys tell me...

i think you need 2.5 or 3 inches for 285s but i could be wrong

yotaman04 - toyteclifts sells suspension lift. 1 inch sus wouldnt clear 285 you would have to go with 3" to clear & maybe aftermarket wheels also. unless you run wheel spacer.

but if you do want a bodylift you can go to 4crawler.com

Toytec also now carries a 1" body lift. And no, you wouldn't be able to fit either of those tires without at about 2.5". The 285s will most likely fit on your stock 4runner wheels, whereas the 295's would most likely require a wheel with less backspacing or wheel spacers.

If you are wanting a cheap lift solution just to fit larger tires, check on ebay for a Daystar 4runner lift. They are usually on there for around $160, however if you are also looking for offroad performance then a coil lift such as the OME-3RUN from Toytec would be a better option.

Also, 265/75/r16's would fit with no lift and minimal to no rubbing.

yea i plan on getting the 3" all coil lift from OME and probably the 1" diff drop they offer, so will 295/75/16 tires fit on my stock rims?

Probably not. It is the width that will get you, not the height. Most people go with a 285/75/16. The 285's are extremely close to the upper a-arms with the stock wheels, and some people even report rubbing on the stock a-arms. Also, you probably won't notice your tires being 1/2" narrower if you go with the 285's, it will be less stress on your steering components (although probably not enough to realistically matter) and is a much more common tire size. If you really want the 295's then you are going to either have to add wheel spacers (Spidertrax makes great ones), or get a wheel that has a backspacing of 4-45". The fj80 (91-97 or whatever LandCruiser) wheel works nicely ...but at this point you might as well go with a 305/70 (33x12.5).
