Body Lift? (want bigger tires)

Hey folks, I just picked up my new 2015 Trail Prem. 4R today (retiring my old 3rd gen); I ordered a BOSS complete lift kit from ToyTec, and I'd like to run at least 33" tires. My understanding is that these will rub, so I'm wondering, is there a body lift kit available yet?

I did some googling and couldn't find anything. Also searched on here and only found some dead threads.

yeah I did some checking I took some pictures and some measurements I've been working with Roger Brown body lifts in San Diego the problem with our 4Runner is the steering column is completely different than anything else there is currently nothing available. I still may do it and just go custom with the steering column by building in a small extension. You also have to trim in the rear around the hitch.

You did a crappy job searching. The 100+ page of lifted trucks sticky at the top of the forum with the majority running 285/70/17 (33's) or the lift kit buyers guide in the FAQ area.

Yeah, you don't need a body lift to run a 285 "33"" tire.

I have 255/80-17s with 3" lift, Icon UCA's and I don't have rubbing. YMMV

It depends on your tires and requires more than a lift. You have to trim some of the plastic in the fenders and the mud flaps and depending on the tire may need an offset rim or spacers.

If you still want to do a body lift, here is a simple to install lift. I have this on my FJ, will add to the 4R in near future.

Generally speaking, 33s are no problem with a 3" lift and some minor trimming (common).

34s require the above + a body mount chop plus some major trimming (rare).

35s require the above plus fender work or a body lift. (very rare)

Ideal wheel spec for all of this is 17x8 4.5 backspacing. You can run 4.1 or so backspacing, but scrub angles are at the limits depending on tire width.

I'll agree with you that the sticky threads here are not very detailed about recipes that work.

you have a 2014+ so you don't have to worry about rubbing the front bumper. just push the fender liner forward and your good. mine clears by 2 inches. I did the BMC just so I can have a little more clearance but it wasn't needed.

I have the same lift you are getting, check my build thread and you can see clearances.

do not put a body lift on your truck, it wont gain you any clearance from the body mount, and you don't drive a old ford truck hahaha

2.5" f & 1.5" r lift here on 33's with as much possible caster while keeping chamber/toe as close to zero. Drive straight, no vibrations, and doesn't turn to either side under hard braking.

I had to trim off a portion of the front bumper's lower corners, trim off a good amount of the fender lining and pushed the remaining fender lining forward as much as possible held with zip-ties.

I am running 275/65 20s on my UnLimited. I had to do a body mount chop and I used this Toytec spacer lift

give me 2 weeks ... I'll be doing a BCM and 2" BL and I have already 3" ICON lift...

I think this is the highest I can go and still keep my kdss system.

shooting for 35x12.5 or even just 33x12.5
