I was hit in a parking garage. The person who hit me left a note with a bad phone number. It isn't too bad but I know it is there. The body shop I use gave me a price of 350.00 to 400.00. She talked me out of getting it done.

I am kicking around getting a touch up kit:

Trying my luck though I am not very good at spray painting or buying a bra and covering it. Colgan Custom Car Bra, Colgan Original Car Bra

I don't want to just let it go because I feel it screams either I am a bad driver or I don't care about my car.

I am not sure if the bra screams I'm from the 80's and should be driving an IROC.

Dent in fender

That looks like it needs more than a little paint. The fender parts are dented. Too bad about the bad phone number. I'd try to find them. And $400 is probably cheap for that kind of damage.

Maybe you could do one of those 3M vinyl wraps.

Or maybe a Shrokworks front bumper.

Or just cruise around some other neighborhood looking for somebody with another 4Runner and the same color and swap the panels. You might want to practice taking it on and off quickly and pack some heat just in case.

You will NOT be able to hide that with a clear bra! The scratches that are there will be seen right through the vinyl, and actually look even more pronounced when you put a layer of 15-20 mil-thick vinyl over it!

And as for wrapping it, I've done wraps for a long time, unless he's planning on doing some sort of graphic design that breaks up the area with a pattern, it will be no different than the clearbra.

As for painting it yourself, I would not even think of taking a bunch of spray paint and touch up pens to that damage! On top of that, its a vinyl bumper cover, and doing bodywork on that is not quite the same as metal, pretty sure its gonna require different bodyworking materials and skills to get it looking new again!

Get it fixed properly the first time, you'll be happier in the long run! And yes, insurance should take care of that if you have good coverage on your vehicle. But, for 400 bucks, unless you have a zero deductible, I'd just pay the money and get it done. Don't have to worry about a "claim" made on your insurance and premiums going up next year!

Yeah my deductible is 250.00

It doesn't look too bad since I rubbed it out.
The white on the side is a reflection of a parking line.

Did you look for cameras in the lot around where you were parked? It's almost impossible to go anywhere today without being on camera.

People that damage other peoples property and skate away suck. I have recorded license plates a couple of times when I see something like that happen and I even got a really nice letter from a lady once at my old job.

I was walking in the parking garage and this idiot was backing out of a spot and smacked the hell out of this cars quarter panel. She didn't notice that I was about 5 ft away LOL.

License number? Check
She works at the company because it's badged employee parking. Check.

I went in and gave security the plate # of the car that was hit and the car that hit it. Idiot driving denied she hit the car but there I was, her nemesis.

Even though it is a private garage the company allowed the police to cite her for hit and run. BAM! Karma. ;-)

They asked me if I would be a witness if it went to court and I said hell yes.

She relented a couple days later and paid for all the damage.

And her saying she didn't hit the ladies car or know she hit the ladies car? B.S. It made a very loud bang, her car actually stopped on impact and I watched her look around and then take off.

Some people are just scum.

Yup. They are. It is a 6 story parking garage. I showed the people the note and they said they can't check since it could be any time for 8 hours.

The body shop told me to not waste money on there is bound to be more damage done since I have hit some deer in previous cars.

The body shop is advising you to wait until you may or may not hit a deer? Huh?

I'd definitely do all I could to find the bastard that hit me, but if unsuccessful I'd suck it up, pay the $250 deductible and get it fixed correctly. I mean what's the cost of a front bra or whatever? I doubt it's much less than $250.

It was a woman for sure who hit me. I am guessing by the bunk note that someone saw her.

I may take it somewhere else. Maybe this job isn't worth the time of this shop.

If I were younger I would be more upset than I am, but the person who did it most likely will never park there again or near another T4R in that garage again.

I'd say leave it, if in 6m it is bothering you then get it fixed. Its low on the truck and not that noticable.

I would try again with the garage owners as to why they could not view the tapes for the entire 8 hours.............jump around on the video to see where the cars moved that are around you. Unless this is a public parking garage at a huge mall I would image there is not that much movement and within a few minutes you could have it narrowed down to a few timelines that they/you would have to watch in greater deteil.
