Brake light replacement Q: How to?

This is the 1st time I have tried to replace the brake light on my 05. I have the electrical connection pulled loose from the socket, but now what?

Is that socket supposed to twist out of the panel, or pull straight out? I'm afraid of forcing it, and messing something up.

Any advice is appreciated......

I believe it is supposed to twist out. Look in your manual and it should show the direction they should twist.

If it's the original socket it pulls straight out.

Go to rockauto and look it up you'll see a picture.

Well a few times when the old lady has had the car, she said it won't come out of park yet to have it happen to me.

Anyway I'm looking to replace the brake light switch, any links to location? I'm guessing it's near the brake pedal

Here's what I found in another post

"just follow the brake pedal up.... you'll see it on the top front side... when you press the pedal it should release the switch."
