Brake mod questions....has anyone done this?

So like so many people before me have done...I am looking into ordering the brake parts to do the Tundra brake swap. Does anyone know if there is a swap for the rear brakes as well? Would like them to be discs too, but have read that it causes parking brakes not to work. Other misc. problems along the way. Just hope my buddy doesnt want to throttle me for finding parts, and getting them shipped to him....hes going to have a Toyota parts warehouse by the time I get back.....

If you're looking for an upgrade to the rear that is as easy as the Tundra brake upgrade for the front, the answer is sadly no.

There have been several successful disc brake conversions, but they definitely aren't a quick fix.

I have read around this forum and some of the other ones...guess I should look at the dates of what I was reading. But ahh well.....on to the next big thing...

So I'm curious as to why peeps are switching the brakes, I have to get my front brakes done and am about to drop money on it... Then I stumbled on this thread

IMHO the stock 4R brakes, are good, but not good when you mod your truck out. I have 45 days and I am ordering Shrockworks front and rear, sliders, a warn, and finally a Sonoran 1.2 rebuildable. Then, it will be time to save for the forced induction to come later with a URD 7th injector. With the increased weight, I want to be able to stop it. My asking about the rears is because I have read in other places that it is great for off road, not so hot on road.....if anyone solves that puzzle for a reasonable cost who knows.

I think thats generally the sentiment that you will find, correct me if I am wrong. I feel like I read this forum until my eyes hurt...

Lol... .. in my honest opinion, the stock brakes suck, even without mods. Sure you can still stop, but the difference in stopping is very evident between the two. And it isn't because my truck is modded why I think the stock brakes suck. My stock 02 has the stock brakes for now and my lifted 98 has tundras 231's. I can stop on a dime in my 98 and get a nickel back.. My 02 will stop too, but I can feel it struggling I guess in a way is how I will put it compared to the tundras. I say the same thing about my six speed acuras with stock brakes, they are OK, but not good. I ran a custom BBK on it and its beast now. I usually like to upgrade my brakes if they can be. I have had 4 3rd gens and I have also had warped rotors and shimmy and shakes. I like the tundras. Simply front brakes do make a noticeable difference in my experience.

The brakes suck and are even worse on the Taco.
