Brake Pad Wear...

So my wife informs me tonight that theres a squealing sound coming from the front of the car. (Here we go) So I take it for a ride and sure enough shes right. So I remove the from drivers side wheel and inspect the brakes. The inboard pad was ok but the outboard pad is about gone. I did a a caliper/pad/rotor replacement on this wheel almost exactly 2 years ago. I was wondering if it was normal for the brakes to wear more on one side of the rotor then the other? Back when the caliper was froze it was just one piston and the pad wore like this /. I suppose I could have two froze pistons on the same side of the caliper.

How much of a difference is there in pad thickness between inner and outer pads? Is it just thickness our is it also taPered or slanted? It its possible for one side to seize up, but unlikely. Did you compare it to the other side.

Its not slanted but one side has a lot of pad left compared to almost NONE on the opposing side. The passenger side wheel had more worn on one side as the other but not nearly as much.

Just do a quick check and see if you can compress the other side...that isn't worn... if the pistons are moving and stuff seems weird. put new pads on and check it in a couple months.

Update : I just tried to compress the pistons and sure enough they wont budge! I just replaced this caliper two years ago. Somehow the (knock on wood) the passenger side keeps on rolling after 125,000 miles.
