Don't take things too seriously around here, a lot of times the newbies get the tough love up front. If you hang out too much your going to discover a lot of expensive things you just have to have though, just a warning.

I always think its cute how everyone thinks they have a manual 4WD system in a 4Runner.
That being said, they do make a bit of a grinding noise.

If that means that you still have 4WD ECU and a ADD on the front axle, then yes.
The only truly manual set-up in a Toyota in a long while was the FJ Cruiser 4WD manual because they eliminated the 2WD (which is why you all still have and ADD) option and made it similar to the All-Time 4WD set-up in the 4th Gen 4Runners, GX470/GX460, and LX470/LX570 sans the electronic actuators.

Last I saw them on were some of the Super Duty Ferds a few years back.
I think from a dumbass end user standpoint having to get out and twist a hub to get 4x4 is waaaay too much to ask for in 2014.
I still remember changing carb jets for weather and altitude conditions.

As an aside, there is no such cooling off period under South Carolina law. Individual dealers may have a policy, but it is not law. Cooling off periods are not available in most states, despite common belief otherwise. There is a federal law that provides three days to cancel some sales, but it does not apply to car purchases and most states have not enacted a law that applies when buying a vehicle. There are ways to void a contract, but you would normally need to show some sort of fraud or deception.
