BREAKING NEWS..... About Front Trailer Hitch

If anybody is interested I do have a Curt 31054 Trailer Hitch New In Box (Never unpacked) for sale. Its for Limited and SRS models.

Ok, it seems the 31367 is for the TE Only, but the only reason is that if you try to install it on a SR5 or Limited, you have to take off the front air dam plastic from underneath and you will NOT be able to trim and reinstall the plastic. But everything else (mounting points etc) are the same in all the vehicles. Also the 31367 sit a bit farther back from the front bumper and closer to the frame etc. (Tucked closer to the underneath of the truck, more clearance.

The 31054 however, is made especially for the SR5 or Limited, in that it installs in a similar fashion, but you can "trim" the plastic airdam pieces and reinstall the plastic. Also, the 31054 sits a bit lower and possibly sticks out a little more forward then the 31367. Do I have this right?

Any reason this would not fit an 06 sr5? it shows for the 07 and up but not 06 and below:shrug:

Got it installed today. I would recommend two people for this install unless you have a lot of stamina. Holding a hitch up while trying to align the holes and get it into place is easier said than done. I did this myself as my wife was about as useful as a set of nipples on a bull.

A couple tips, attach the outermost bolts first or they will not pull into the area correctly. This is a tight fit to say the least. You will feel like it doesn't fit, it will. A 1/2" drive ratchet will make the job much easier as these are some fairly large bolts. If you are ordering this, take the front air dam off first or you will probably get really pissed trying to finish this job. When ordering this, you might as well order a hitch extension because a standard ball hitch will not clear the bumper, my hitch rack also would not clear.

Only photo for now, I will get some better ones later.

Most grille guards attach at the same points I believe, so I would say you are correct on that statement.

You would need longer bolts, and I would not recommend using the hitch to its full ability if doing so.

I will tomorrow when the sun is back up. I will also get some better shots from the front. There were none that I was looking for when searching this product so I will try to be thorough.

Brock, In a previous post Dadstoy stated that the receiver was tucked behind the bumper about 3/4 of an inch. I am assuming he means 3/4 of an inch behind the back of the bumper, not the front. He had an SR5 I think. From your photo, I cant tell, is that about same distance on yours? Here is a photo from Dadstoy.

Also, did you find an extension yet? I checked Curt, does not look like they make one, but there are other's out there that do. Just thought I would piggy back your research/opinion if you found one yet. Thanks in advance.

Here are a couple more photos for you guys searching.

3" from the end of the receiver to the edge of the bumper.

17 3/4" from the ground to the bottom of the receiver. This sits far enough back that I still have more approach angle than if just the air dam was on.

The bolts used to hold the hitch on. Notice that the holes are a bit larger. I will be getting some washers for them before I actually put any weight on the hitch, I am not sure why Curt did not provide them. I was in slacks so I did not climb under to get a photo of where this connects to the tie down hooks. Those are very stout bolts so I doubt that not having washers would affect anything.
