I finally got my my 4Runner. 2001 w/ 93k miles on it for $8k. I think it's the sport (hood scoop, fender flares, running boards). Can someone correct me if I'm wrong? 2 owners, clean carfax, maintenance records. Pics coming ASAP. Stoked to contribute and not just cherry pick the threads all day long. The roof and hood are dented to hell from a kill hail storm, any advice on fixing it? Pic isn't really doing justice. I was thinking about buying a dent puller online, some claim to hold up to 25 lbs on a 2 1/4" diameter. It's either that or the ice trick. What do you guys think?

Yeah it's hail. The previous owner parked it at the airport and it got hit pretty good. It was even in a parking garage! (the space at the edge)

CAI is in!

I got the AEM Brute force CAI in. The instructions were super straight forward and made it a breeze. Any thoughts on the space between the heat shield and the pipe? Seems a little big. Headed down to try to install my Yakima racks.

Yakima Installed

Got the Yakima bars on last night. I did end up breaking the plastic parts at the end of my rails. Bike racks going on today. Also put in the 12 LED dome light.

Look what I got in the mail...

The last few days the Postal Service has been good to me. Got the Fumoto drain plug (decided to go with the on with the nipple). Also got some LC coils I found on craigslist for $50 and some Toytec Black anodized front spacers with the extra 1/2" spacer.
The LC coils are 19" high, will I be closer to level with just the 2" spacers up front or should I throw everything in there? Thanks guys!

Update: Autostart installed. They told me that the crank time had to be twice as long (1 second) to get the engine to run. The tech said this was indicative of needing a tune up. Ordered denso plugs and ngk wires on amazon (free expedited shipping because I'm a student). Hopefully this will help since I think the plugs are 11 years old. Any other thoughts as to why it may take longer to start?

Did the MAF Sensor and Throttle body clean along with greasing my drive train. My slight clunk and hesitation when going from stop is GONE. I love this forum!

Looks good, how are you liking the AEM Brute Force CAI? Notice any improvements?

I'm liking the AEM so far. It feels like it's gives a little more throttle response. Not sure about the gas mileage, I put it on 3 days after I bought the Runner. But for the price I paid (around $30), I didn't think I could go wrong. We did take it up in the mountains last weekend and downshifting was pretty dang loud. I liked it, my wife on the other hand was not too enthusiastic about the drone.

Fumato

Installed the Fumato valve today, hoping it will make oil change a breeze. I put on a vacuum cap and a hose clamp to keep the nipple clean and clear.

What do we have here?

Just got my Bilstein HDs in the mail. Stoked to put them on. Also did the rear diff breather extension and threw on a Yakima fairing I got on CL. Retail they're $79. This guy was asking $50 but when I showed up to buy it (planning to offer $45) he said his girlfriend threw away the mounting bolts and that he'd take $20. I stopped by rack attack on the way home and got the mounting bolts for $3... SCORE. Hoping it'll cut the wind a little, I'm not expecting the MPGs to get any better, but that'd be a plus.

Nice rig man. The fairing will definitely cut out the howling noise from the bars.

Concerning your autostart: almost all 3rd gen 4Runners crank for a "relatively" long time before they start. Compared to other vehicles I've ever driven. Which is a LOT...I worked for a used car dealership for several years. Out of every single car I've ever started, 4runners take the longest to catch once you start cranking it.

I would just like to add in balance that mine has always started up just fine. There are a good amount of threads related to "long crank times" but I believe that means something might be wrong. IAC issues are common.

I appreciate your response. I think about it every time I start up.
Regarding the fairing, I was having some rattling where the fairing was resting on the factory tracks. I got some adhesive velcro and stuck the soft side on there. Problem solved, albeit on the ghetto side.
